Stars pull goalie with 6 mins to go … MTL has been terrible all year 6 on 5, so why not When we've had the 6... lol We can’t get an empty netter or clear the zone when the other team pulls the goalie to save our lives It’s been that way since game 1 when Toronto stormed back on us with 2 goals with their goalie pulled They go into a prevent mindset instead of pressuring the puck. Playing safe is death and they haven’t learnt it. Why sit back and let DAL control the zone with a 3 goal lead? Now it’s a two goal lead and DAL will score again

Slaf twice now had a chance to fire it at the empty net and hesitated

2 mins to go and now it’s a 1 goal lead
Told ya.
Too afraid to fire it on net …. I really don’t get it . With that big a lead who cares about icing and sitting back

This team has a play not to lose mindset, not a play to win mindset

That mouthbreather Savard almost cost them the game... his vic20 processor can't react fast enough

That did not have to be that hard if this team could learn to play with a lead and learn how to clear a zone when it’s 6 on 5
Brutal that they can’t score an empty netter when the other goalie was on the bench for SIX MINUTES

Can't wait until we can get rid of Matheson, Savard and chaosevic

The 5 on 6 is just another version of special teams that hasn't worked on this team in years.
You're right Skilly. 6 minutes of EN time without scoring is pathetic.

I have always been a Slaf fan but he is impressing me a lot, so smart, great vision and moves and his 200 foot game is awesome, when he starts focusing on offence, wow... Seems like he’s been in on 3 of Montreal’s 4 goals and got only 1 assist out of it all.

Montreal has given up 6 goals against when we are 6 on 5
Montreal has now given up 8 goals against when 5 on 6 (the other team pulls their goalie)
That’s worse than pathetic

Conversely we have scored 2 goals when up 6 on 5 We have scored 1 goal when up 6 on 4
And we have scored 4 goals when 5 on 6

We saw his speed and reach tonight at both ends of the ice on some great fore-checking and back-checking. His ability to check from behind due to his reach catches the opponent off guard. As well as some beauty passes tonight. i think after suze he is the best passer on the team. Ironically, it is his shooting which is the slowest to develop. But he is going to be a monster.

We absolutely dominated TB for the first 30 minutes last game. Same with Stars tonight and again almost lost as the opposition comes on. We may just bad at keeping a lead. But I think it may be the opposition doesn't take us seriously until the third period and then they take it up a notch and we can't compete i.e we got a long way to go to be a contender.

For a veteran he sure has a low panic threshold. Benn was coming towards him. Why doesn't he just ring it along the boards past Benn? No, throwing the puck in front of my own net is a much better idea.

No, throwing the puck in front of my own net is a much better idea. People who are dumb and don't get it don't have a panic threshold as they are unable to recognize they are in a dangerous position. Speaking of Math's hockey IQ, at the end of the first period with 5 seconds to go, he has the puck in our zone with no Stars within 10 feet. All he has to do is keep the puck or go behind our net and eat the clock. But the brainchild he is, he decides to try some risky low percentage long pass and ices the puck. Result: Stars have face-off in our zone to end period. Guess he wanted to end the period with a super dumb play, just as he started the period. By the way we were leading 2-1 at the time

On the 1st unit, no one goes in front of the net... the 2nd unit has Evans... nuff said Not to mention Gallagher and Anderson. Not only is the PP2 full of guys who do not exactly have silky mitts, for me it is odd to put five right sticks over the boards together. Good work by the PP1. I'm beginning to think this is a deliberate tank not involving the players. There are just too many foolish decisions being made with the line-up and the only thing that makes sense (considering it's a pretty smart management group) is that a tank was planned for this year, despite what was said.
