Big Pete Mahovlich was one of my favorites growing up. Me too! Never liked Larouche - soft player who would put up points in a 6-1 game, but not show up for the tough ones. Pete on the other hand was great on the PP and the PK, and was a great complement to Guy and Shutt. And who will ever forget his magical goal against the Ruskies - looked like Mario.

Once again, highlighting that picks are not what a lot of people make them out to be. Anything past #15 is a crap shoot and we shouldn't be adverse to trading them. Yes yes yes, I can't get over 2013.

Harris in, Xhekaj out, penalties still the same
Wonder if MSL will chastise Harris?
Xhekaj apologized the next morning to MSL for his penalties and still got scratched.

Guhle stays down low, and Matheson feeds him an empty net
1-0 Habs
Caufield extends his point scoring streak with a second assist

Sorry Skilly, when you said "yes he apologized" were you referring to Gallagher?

Pittsburgh was all over the boys in the first period. Hopefully they can turn the table as the tired legs on the Penguins make them vulnerable to bad pinches, etc.

Allen was solid. Slaf can’t buy a goal. Struble stood up Malkin. Lots of good things happening. Can we get Anderson suspended? He was his usual black hole self.

Armia never gets better or more aware
Matheson just set him up for an easy tap in, and he whiffed on it

Armia never gets better or more aware Matheson just set him up for an easy tap in, and he whiffed on it I always wondered how he was a 1st round pick but I read recently that the Sabres picked him during a period when they were relying heavily on video because their in person scouting staff had been cut drastically by the owner. They probably never got a good look at him.

Skafkovsky tries to find Csufield. The pass hits the skate of Graves & goes in. His 7th.

Slafkovsky scores on a nifty tip pass from Monahan
2-1 Habs

Skafkovsky is speeding up that evolution into a devastating power forward. Anderson shoots right into Jarry’s chest after Suzuki sets him up. (Rinse, repeat).

Can someone explain to me why Matheson will not pass the puck to Slafkovsky on the PP. He ALWAYS pass to the left to Caufield or Suzuki.
On that last PP, when Matheson shot and it was whistled down in the save. You could see Slafkovsky visible frustrated because he was wide open for the one timer with a gaping open net

Suzuki's laziness almost cost them ... you learn to skate towards the puck at an earlier age, not wait for it to come to you , or your defenseman to reach for it

Jake Evans had the puck on his stick twice during that PK, and twice he bobbled it and couldn't get out to relieve the pressure

Friedman saying the Rangers are interested in Monahan but making a deal is difficult because of acrimony between the front offices.
Gorton left NY almost 3 years ago. Still feeling sour?

Did Drury ’help’ Gorton’s firing along? If I recall, there was some noise about Montreal not notifying the league office of their intent to hire Gorton. ***** Just tried to find info on this and found a Gazette article where Gorton says he was surprised to get fired by the Rangers during a rebuild and after that famous letter to fans where the Ranger management told fans they were intent on rebuilding. The rebuild was going well, and it shocked him to be fired The same article mentions reports that Bettman referred Gorton to Molson. Gorton said he knew nothing of it.
