Entertaining game, and really solid effort by the Habs. Armia, Evans, Guhle and Montembeault all stood out in a positive way.

I can't help but wonder if Evans gets extended this summer, you can't ask for much more of a 4th line center than what we're getting from him. If he'll take a 50% pay cut, I'd consider doing the same for Armia, though just moving bodies out will become an issue eventually. I just realized Ylonen didn't play. Can't say he was missed...

Evans is a 4th line centre who can be a shut down guy and is good on the PK and good at face-offs. But his lack of offensive contribution restricts him from being a 3rd line guy on a contender. I don't know if we need a 50% cut. If he wants his $1.7 million, I'd give it to him but ain't going much higher at this point. Armia is such an enigma. The guy can be a huge contributor when he shows up. But his lack of engagement the other 75% of the time is a farce. Don't see him and his $3.4 million going anywhre next year, so just have to hope he "matures" and starts showing up regularly. Gotta think Ylo's days are numbered.

Hard to know if Oil were simply not focused given their opponent, and they are a pretty flaky team. But we were the better team and could have easily won this. Although would have prefered to lose in the last minute when Oil had the pp. We certainly didn't need the point particlrly since Sens lost and CJB got a point.

I didn't see the 3rd period but I thought high sticks were reviewable. I've seen it done to determine if the penalty is 2 or 4 minutes.
Could they have done it here to see if it was accidental?

It was reviewed. That's how it was determined to be a 4 min penalty. The Habs really did outplay the Oilers in this one.

I'd be happy with Evans as a 4th line center, but do feel he's a bit overpaid for that role. This is the Armia that we saw in the 21 playoffs, that earned his current contract and promptly disappeared. Maybe he's learned something and finally found the consistency that was missing in his game. If he can sustain this level of play through end of next season then I agree that he's worth extending at the right price.
