Vasy played in TO tonight so will get Johanson. Gotta stop beating these teams. Sure it feels good but ultimately, it's not helping the cause.
But if Primeau continues to stand on his head then I'm good that we got our elite goalie.

Guhle boarded by Kucherov. Not back to start the second period.
Get used to it if the deterrent isn't deterring

Armia scores #16 Newhook and Gallagher with 2 assist nights And in only 59 games. I never thought Armia would be a 20 goal guy but he has an outside shot.

Game over pinard with the giveaway And with only 1 goal this season. Last year must have been a fluke. RHP never looks close to ever scoring.

Cap off a truly awful period with a 4 minute penalty. Terrible game.

Not that it matters, but Matheson tries to go deep along the boards with the extra man.
Stripped...and Stamkos ices it. 7-4.

OK. You can stop holding your breath. We are officially out of the playoffs.
Not sure what to make of this game. Primeau left out to dry fairly often, and the d coverage is pretty bad, partularly without Guhle. Startting to lose hope that Harris or Struble will amount to much. Basically we have many D that would not be top 6 on a contender: Harris, Kovs, Struble, Barron. Savard would be bottom pairing. Maths should not be on the #1 PP and probably not at all.
We're now left with hoping Mailloux, Hutson and Reinbacher can develop, but they're 3 or 4 years away form having an impact.
Could be a few more years before we see playoff action.

We're not officially out yet...but very soon.
The #2 WC is currently sitting with 83 pts.
We have 70 pts. with 7 GR, so we "could" hit 84 (in another universe).

A debate with a foregone conclusion but we are officially eliminated as Detroit will play Washington so one of those teams will get at least 2 points over the rest of the season thus getting to 84. Each of them have the tie breaker over us so even if we win 7 straight for the first time in forever, we ain't getting in. Please take a breath!

Looking at the bright side (after watching the Hab goals) I am amazed at Slafkovsky. Some moron on Twitter was whining about how sad it was that we had to draft Slaf and not a Matthews. I believe he said that in 3 years, Slaf won't even be the best player of the 2022 draft. I have a lot of confidence in saying that in 3 years, no one will want to trade Slaf for Matthews.
That goal of his tonight. He just turned 20. He has Cernak all over him and he casually holds him off and redirects the puck through the goalie's legs. Cernak is in his prime at 26, is 6'3", 230 lbs and Slaf casually (and I mean that literally) overpowers him and scores.
On Slaf's assist, he gets the puck along the boards, protects it, entices 2 guys to try and take the puck away and gives Suzuki a ton of time and space to find Caufied, who also has space because it takes 2 Lightning players to check Slaf.
Wow. I'm starting to believe my hype that he could be another Jagr. Still some stick handling to improve on and the shot release, but that can be done. You can't teach strength, vision and size.

White and rhp are ahl material White is not an NHL player. RHP might find a spot for himself, but not on the Habs. He'll be passed. His weakness is that while he moves his legs at 100 miles an hour, he doesn't really get anywhere fast enough. Tons of effort, though. Pezzetta is a gamer, but he's Pezzetta. Then there's Anderson, so that's 4 players down. You can't win with 8 forwards. I left Evans out of it as he is a legit fourth liner, but is being used on the 3rd because we're at that stage of the rebuild. Evans will get some competition next year. The defense is just young and inexperienced, except for Savard, for whom I have gained a lot of respect and Matheson, who I hope gets traded this June.

But the final curtain may have to wait until Saturday...as tonight, the Wings play the Rangers...and the Caps play the Canes. Saturday, the Isles play a determined Preds team...while we play the Leafs.

Saturday, the Isles play a determined Preds team...while we play the Leafs. Everyone else can't lose out as Detroit plays Washington in one game so one of those teams will get another two points. There is no mathematical way we can get in. Now if Covid hits and they extend the number of teams eligible then we got a chance - we did it once before. Although I think most of us would just assume miss the playoffs.

I just read on another site that Kucherov has set a record for most empty nets points in a season - 13. Did I read that correctly? 10% of his points are the result of empty net goals?
