The two best forwards today are…Cowan and Minten. And it is not even close. Need someone in red to wake up and show something in the third.

I'm PO because i can't pick the numbers to see how our defense is doing. From expecting to see the pimples on their face on a 83", I'm getting red blurs on a tablet.
I really want to see the most important things....Hutson. Rein, Mailman defending. THEY are the future.
Little X and Beck are next on the list. So far Little X has shown nothing other then a useless fight.

Chuckle. That scrum. Florian is looking at the Leaf and that guy is checking out the curve of the glass. Did not want eye contact 😅.

Playing very confidently, holding onto the puck until the best play is available.

Mesar making some nice passes. Good to see. Tables turning. Habs seem to have the momentum now. Possession is good.

Only play that i could pick off was Rein and he looked like a wonderer.
I can't replay so can't confirm.

Heineman can’t buy a goal. The guys are really picking it up and moving the puck well. Mesar playing much better.

Hutson might as well feed beer leaguers. The required snap shot from that pass...was stop look and listen.
Mailman is the resl deal

I relly liked Beck taking the last draw. Won it cleanly. Game over. That's such an important skill to have in the lineup.

Stevens has been really good for the Leafs. He’s a 4 year NCAA guy with less than .5 ppg in BU. A teammate of Hutson’s. Normally a 4th line guy but he looks better than that. He’s 24 so not much upside.

Richard…you may not have lost a game last season, but you were pretty bad in the shootout buddy.

Minten, Cowan and Hildeby were the 3 best Leaf players in the game and the shootout. Game 1 to the Baby Leafs in the shootout.

Totally, completely, thoroughly unimpressed by our forwards.
Only bright spot was Hutson, but then he had two steps on a Laff and he was caught. Not a good omen and something that can be fixed.
I wasn't looking forward to washing my car, now i am...

They looked better as the game went on , so I’m expecting a better result tomorrow especially if Miller gives us better goaltending. Richard is too small. Lots of holes.

Hey NWT...you seem to have the inside track on these games.
Can you put up the link to tomorrow's game? Thanks in advance!

Agreed that they looked better as the game went on. Makes sense given the lack of game time and familiarity with each other. They had a lot of grade A chances in the 3rd but kept shooting right at a positionally sound goalie.

I missed the first period, but given how little these kids have practiced together I thought the game was actually pretty entertaining.
Richard did what he could. After all, he got beat on three power play goals and the shootout winner. But obviously he is smallish and does not profile as a real prospect. Hideby is the #1 for the Marlies, so it was too surprising that he squared up and stopped a lot of shots. The Habs buzzed for almost the entirety of the third, but good chances on the sticks of kids who are not pro level snipers often leads to actual goals being significantly lower than expected goals.

The intent was to record the game and then "scout" each defenseman, play by play. Slo-mo every shift to see how Rein, Hutson and Mailman played on defense, but no such luck.
The only sequence that stood out showed Rein chasing the puck and no positional play. In by itself it doesn't mean a lot without the prequel to why he did it. Was he fished or was it legitimate because he was covered. I wont know without a replay.
What stood out was Protz was lost in space. I only noticed him in two plays and he fumbled the puck when he had a clear option. Maybe forget the monopoly on violence and speed up the decision making. Meh...he's a 4th rounder and mountains to cross.
These kids should ask for the hockey tapes of Struble. I didn't think he would amount to a hill of beans but by keeping his game simple and focused, he proved he was NHL capable. I don't know if he's capable of getting beyond a bottom 6, but no doubt he is one now. HELLO Protz...
Tomorrow is another day...

Outgoalied in the shootout. Does Miller play tomorrow? He is going to have shoulder surgery. They have a goalie invite from Brantford (teammate of Florian and Protz last year).
