Guys, there are very few Habs fans around Cambridge to share this stuff with...I thought you'd get a chuckle out of it.
Living an hour away from Toronto, and spending much of my time working there, I am inundated with Leaf talk, and the inherent absurdity.
Here's the latest.
MOJO Radio features "Leafs Breakfast" and "Leafs Lunch" Monday to Friday.
On Thursday, Bill Watters (former ass't Leafs gm) was talking about the New Jersey game and the fact that the Devils might be affected by the Stanley Cup banner-raising ceremony. He said, "They might cool off too much from their warm-up, and the Leafs may catch them napping."
After I stopped laughing at this arrogance....I thought of a logical comeback.
"Hey Bill...you have a point. The Leafs raised a Stanley Cup banner in 67, and they've been cold for 36 years."

Watters is being pretty generous to the leafs - especially considering how they dumped him.
MOJO radio is where you go to hear the spin on how the leafs are dong.
CH if you want a more balanced opinion try the FAN 590. Bob Macowan(sp?) does the 4pm -7pm show. Along with Damien Cox, they can be pretty critical. As an example, yesterday Macowan was calling Sundin a floater that won't get involved in the play. I found it pretty amusing but I'm sure diehard leaf fans were doing a slow burn.

MOJO radio is where you go to hear the spin on how the leafs are dong. . jkr--I know, but I don't like The Fan 590...before MOJO changed format to "Talk Radio for Guys" I listened to the Fan. I didn't like it then, either, but it was the only place I could hear sports-talk. But Pat Marsden is every bit as much of a Leaf homer as is Don Cherry. Besides, Marsden always sounds like he's salivating over a plate of donuts. And "all sports all the time" can get quite tedious without the video to back it up. Even though it's the Home of the Leafs, I find the hosts at MOJO to be just as critical of the Laffers as are Macown and Cox. Landsberg and Watters have had quite a few entertaining feuds...as well, John Oakley and Andrew Krystal have been very critical.

The thing about Maple Leafs is they start falling every October. The merciful thing to do is burn them before they start smelling like compost. Come March you take their blood, spread it on the snow, or eat it for breakfast with your pancakes. Maple Leafs look much better in Red on a flag than Blue on a sweater. The word Toronto on the Leaf is an Indian word that translates, "No cups for you!"
