What happened to the other Tkaczuk?

I've always wondered what has kept Daniel Tkaczuk from making the jump to the NHL on a full time basis. His first AHL season in Saint John was a big success. The second, he bounced back and forth between the farm and Calgary. Since being sent to St. Louis he's never been able to do much. Now his AHL numbers are down. Any one know what his story is? Is it mental? Is it his game?
