Even after tonights 5-2 win over Florida....the Leafs have scored only 19 more goals than they've let in. And that's with shutouts. Eddie Belfour has been the answer. The Leafs aren't blowing teams away, they're finding ways to squeak out the wins.
Still, I'd take it....but I wouldn't be too overconfident if I were a Leaf fan. Sure, enough 2-1 games will win you a Cup...but if Belfour gets injured....it's over. Kidd's not that good.

Your comments are similar to something Glen Healy sais last night( & it was surprising coming from Healy).
He was talking about Philly and their struggles. He stated that the Flyers have few weaknesses but are failing to win because of goaltending.
Then he went on to mention that a good goalie like Luongo or Belfour can mask a lot of weaknesses. It surprised me a lot to hear that Toronto actually has weaknesses - and from a member of the leaf media!!

Shakespeare had a quote about it. "How weak are thee? Let me count the ways."

That's quite obvious. This team still lacks competent coaching and a stud defenseman. And from the looks of things, neither of them will be coming soon. Not to mention that Belfour plays far too many games during the regular season and like last year will burn out.
Nothing's going to happen with this team. As a matter of fact, I think they will do some tumbling in the standings. If they have to battle against Philly, NJ or Ottawa, then they're toast.

I should be happy, the leafs beat the Rangers for the fourth time this month. But this is getting to be too much and the childish dance after the game is just ridiculous.
They were outhit and outshot for the the whole game, blew a 5-2 lead and still won on a bad goal in OT. If ever a team desrve to lose it was the leafs tonight.

Well, now the "Squeak Streak" is over....Eddie played great again...but couldn't bail out a listless bunch....the Isles took it to em. Greg Millen after the loss said, "The Leafs can be very proud of their 16-game streak. Only Stanley Cup Champions have accomplished the same." Is there anyone more obnoxious than a Leaf fan? I STAND CORRECTED: Another poster wrote that it was Glenn Healey who made the comment. After the Habs' loss, I tuned in just in time to hear it as the Leafs were skating off the ice, sans victory dance , so I wasn't sure who was doing the announcing. Healey/Millen....potato/potahto.

Millen is just another example of a journalist that doesn't do his homework. There have been teams with longer streaks that haven't won anything except a place in the record books. Just ask Quinn - the 79-80 Flyers went 35 games without a loss but the Islanders won the Cup. And equating a point streak in today's NHL ( where you can get a point for losing a game) with a Stanley Cup championship is just moronic.

An appropriate description of some of the guys that CBC is using these days. Cole, Neale (who didn't used to be like this, but obviously Cole is contagious) and Millen are not good commentators. Hrudey, who is excellent, doesn't get near the exposure he should.
