The list is a who's-who of NHL 'tenders By ROBERT TYCHKOWSKI -- Edmonton Sun First it was fries. Then wine. Then the subtle art of avoiding combat. Now goalies. Don't look now, but the French are cornering another market. If you're wondering why goals are so hard to come by in the National Hockey League today, blame Quebec. The French revolution is flooding the league with big, technically perfect butterfly goalies who aren't giving shooters half a chance. A province that supplies 10 per cent of the NHL's skaters is providing 36 per cent of its starting goalies: Martin Brodeur, Jose Theodore, Patrick Lalime, Roberto Luongo, Jean-Sebastien Giguere, Marc-Andre Fleury, Dan Cloutier, Jocelyn Thibault, Martin Biron, Marc Denis and Jacques Lemaire's nephew Manny Fernandez, who was born in Ontario but grew up in Quebec. The list doesn't include Felix Potvin and Sebastien Caron, who are getting loads of work in Boston and Pittsburgh, or any of the other half-dozen backups who came through the province's netminding factory. - slam.canoe.ca/Slam040118/col_tychkowski-sun.html

If I was to start an expansion club, I'd be looking at the best goaltending prospects from Quebec first and foremost.
