In his 3 full years in Montreal he led the team in scoring once, finished second once and finished third once in team scoring.
And in his 2 other seasons with Montreal well he led the team in scoring and never even played the full season on the team. In '95 he played 39 games and led the team with 43 points. And in '99 he played 61 games and led the team with 47 points.
Not exactly a dud. I'd sat it was more of a dud team then one player.
And I agree with you on the Yzerman front ... and if you believe Yzerman was adequate on the last team .... then why would you pick him on this team. I would rather Madden killing penalties than anyone else.

Recchi seemed to be skating uphill all the time in Montreal and as I stated never from a lack of effort. I think the 43 game effort was in the shortened season cause Recchi was vying for the ironman record and only missed games his last season in Montreal. As for Yzerman I looked at my intitial post cause I dont know why I put him in, he is now out. As for Madden, I still think put him on a team without Brodeur and he is a nobody.

LeClair getting 50 goals is a product of his team. Like I said Recchi was not as productive in Montreal because of his team. LeClair does nothing when he plays on Team USA.
And in Philly well .... in the years LeClair and Recchi have p[layed on the same team Recchi has outscored him every year. He led the team in scoring twice and is on pace to do it again ..... LeClair is a function of that team ..... strong up front crash and bang .... Recchi has succeeded on every team he has played on.
Recchi has led 3 different teams in scoring .... there are only a few players who can say that. Gretzky, Damphouuse, Recchi are a few ..... it shows consistency.
I am not saying Recchi will be on the team. He will go to camp .... But I hope if they want leadership that they will go to Recchi and not Yzerman ..... Recchi deserves based on production ..... Yzerman only gets on through reputation.

Come on we all know Leclair was injured the last few years- shoulder surgery back surgery tend to slow someone down- Yes but Recchi played with Lindros and was hastily shipped to Montreal, Leclair played with Lindros and was a success- that was the difference- and dont tell me Recchi was a success with the Habs cause he wasnt. I really doubt Recchi will be even asked to be on the team unless the Flyers win the Cup and he is scoring buckets in the playoffs. I never meant Yzerman to be part of the team, I dont know why I put him there. Like I said Stevie Y has been a dud for Team Canada. I think the RW slot is sewn up already by the likes of Iginla Heatley Nash Nolan Shanahan St Louis
