Greg Devries goes to Ottawa from NYR for . . . not announced yet (probably a non-roster player). Rachunek. and Alex Giroux

Stupid move. I don't think their D is the problem and Devries is signed for a lot of $. I still think he's overrated...

Agreed. The problem is between the pipes. Unless they do get Kolzig the Sens fizzle out again. And unless the Leafs get a back-up for Belfour who may or not be healthy enough they don't go far either.

I would agree with you Yeti. if they were willing to add that much salary ($4.2M), they should have gone after Kolzig and/or Witt.

de Vries is very good, a steady D. Goal may or may not remain a problem, but he'll help the Senators anyway.

They made a mistake when they got de Vries last yearn and let him slip away after the season.

I've been listening to the Toronto spin on these guys all day....I'm tired of it. They're old and past their prime. Johanssen hasn't played an NHL game in almost a year, and he's 37. Is that enough to win a Stanley Cup? They didn't improve their toughness on D...and they didn't get an insurance policy for Belfour's 39-year-old bad back. It takes 4 gruelling rounds, 16 wins and as many as 28 games to win it all...I don't think his back can carry them. In goes Trevor Kidd or Tellqvist...and POOF...goodbye chances. Up front, they're still not as skilled as the Sens, and the Sens got DeVries on D as well to join Redden, Chara, Leschyshyn, Phillips, and Simpson. I'd take that over McCabe, Kaberle, Leetch, Klee, Berg, and Pilar any day. , If, and it's a big if, Lalime can put together a strong playoff performance, no team should beat Ottawa in the East.

Great trade for Ottawa. Rackunek is a young Brisebois, very error prone.
De Vries' contract was front loaded for this year. He makes 4.2 this year, but only $3 million for each of the next 3 years. Nice pickup.

He had that playoff shutout run 2 years ago. And last year he was strong in games 5 & 6 of the Conference final to get the series to seven games. I think he will be fine.

I have not seen much of Ottawa but has Lalime been that bad? Yes. He has been terribly inconsistent. Lets in a lot of soft goals. Has great cames followed by mediocre games. The team in front of him often bails him out but not often enough. Maybe . . . maybe not. He could get on a roll . . . or he might stay in a funk. Who knows? Prusek may be called upon to help out. Emery is the future of the team if he can learn to hold his temper.

Just out of curiosity, would it be gramatically incorrect to start a sentence without capitalizing the D in " de Vries "? Probably.

No. de Vries is a proper name; therefore, should be written so. If you are troubled, call him "Mr. de Vries".
