According to a newspaper in Philly (and as reported on sportsnet.ca), Jeremy Roenick is considering retirement. The operation on his jaw was successful but he also has serious post-concussion symptoms. Apparentely this was his ninth concussion and he's worried. He is also likely to lose 15-20 pounds in the next month because he can't eat solid food.
Can you believe this? Clarke will have to go shopping again otherwise their season is lost if they fail to at least reach the Stanley Cup Final...

Come on Clarke, you know you want to give up your 1st 3 draft picks in this upcoming draft and a prospect for Perrault... I can dream, can't I?

This was not quite the way I understood it. I saw his interview on ABC & he did mention retirement but he also talked about a Cup run. I interpreted the retirement statement to be a post season decision. Let's not forget that he was only 2 days away from the injury.
As for post concussion syndrome - I don't know. I read somewhere today (TSN I think) that he is scheduled to Dr. Karen Johnston at McGill. He likely won't know the extent of the injury until after that visit.
Whether or not he is back for the playoffs could depend upon how deep the Flyers go. If they get to the 2nd round that would give Roenick 3 months rehab.
I would expect Clarke to shop for insurance - he's been proactive this year when his team needed something but I don't know if he will aim for quality like Zhamnov or just try to fill a hole - say Perreault.
