I'd do it.
But not for the money he's making.

Restructure the deal, why not?

Why Savage? He never became the 30 goal scorer scouts promise he would be, and will never come close. Give a chance to the youngters in Steel city, they deserve it.

If this is the last year I'd do it and then release him in the off-season and hopefully restructure the contract to a more affordable situation for the Habs. But I would only restructure it if he outs uo numbers in Montreal ... numbers such as 5 goals and 5 assists in these 19 games and if we make the players getting us a couple there also.
He does have some "sandpaper" that we need.

If we could turn the clock back to October I'd consider aquiring him.

2 years, $7 million according to the score. 3.5 million per seaon ..... whoa. That kinda puts a damper on it. But like I said it is only $810 000 for these next 19 games, and then maybe we could unload him in the off-season ..... but we haven't been having luck doing that lately.

Savage's stats aren't nearly as good as Rucinsky's: 12-12-24 -3 versus 13-17-30 +20 with the Rangers no less, and he's making a lot more money. Rucinsky skates well enough to be on a line with Koivu and Zednik. IMO the choice is clear.

If we could turn the clock back to October I'd consider aquiring him. LOL!!! ;D Savage's stats aren't nearly as good as Rucinsky's: 12-12-24 -3 versus 13-17-30 +20 with the Rangers no less, and he's making a lot more money. Rucinsky skates well enough to be on a line with Koivu and Zednik. IMO the choice is clear. Agree there. If Gainey is going to target a former Habs LWer, then IMO, (and Blaise's too) the decision is obvious.
