First of all....why is Canada subjected to a Monday night, CBC national broadcast of a Leafs-Hurricanes game? Glad the Buds lost...looks good on em. Second...they had my three favourite "broadcasters" on the telecast. Bob Cole, Greg Millen, and Glenn Healey. Millen's and Healey's bravado aside, it's time for Bob Cole to go. Here's a direct "Bobble" from late in the third period...follow this if you can. "The race is heating up in the East! It is in the West too! But these two teams, Toronto and Carolina, are in the East. Carolina...out of it...not mathematically eliminated....and the Leafs....fighting for first place.....and that's all that needs to be said about that!" Stay tuned for more "Bobbles".

Don't forget his mispronunciation of Theodore 2 years back ....... what did he call him Theobideault??
The person that sickens me is Harry Neale. He constantly shows how bias and how little he knows about hockey. Then he runs down to the ice takes out his tape and measures the distance of each shot and how wide it went.
"Oh a 58 foot shot that went 10 inches wide." Oh my that annoys me. He isn't even close most times. I'd prefer to hear "A shot from inside the blueline that didn't miss by much."

I've actually heard Neale get into the fractions-of-feet references. "That was a 16-and-a-half footer from the slot." I guess that's his trademark. That, and every shot that beats a Toronto goalie was either screened or deflected.

"The Eastern Conference playoff race is heating up in the Western Conference as well. Toronto and Carolina, while situated in the Eastern Conference are ipso fatso also in the Western Conference. Carolina has suffered a team-wide 'flu epidemic yet still have a chance to make the post-season. The Leafs are fighting for first place, as God intends." Makes perfect sense to me.

I guess you need to be a Newfoundland to really understand what he is trying to say. Translation: "I've really don't have much to say here, but I am afraid to wake up Neale for his wonderfully boring colour commentary because that is his job, so let's see if I can give it a shot, I can't get much worse than his babbling ..... so now I'll start to bobble." "and that's all that needs to be said about!" Translation: This game actually has some meaning even though this team is practically eliminated.

The Maple Leafs are fighting for first place the way Lucifer is fighting for control of heaven. Both are destined to lose.

Neale and Cole drive me crazy: Cole has lost it and Neale is a smug homer that tries way to hard to be clever.
Millen could be the worst of all - he always comes accross as patronizing. Apparently the loyal Canadian viewers of HNIC don't understand simple concepts such as "momentum" so he has to dumb them down. God help us should a team score in the dying minute of a period, kill off a 2 man advantage, or a 5 minute major - as he'll spend the rest of the broadcast yammering on about the importance of momentum.
Ok, while I'm in full on rant mode I'll tear a strip off of Bob McKenzie. Half the time he provides valuable insight, which I respect, as he's well connected and is often dead on. Almost as often, however, his segment is comprised of redundant generalizations and cliches:
"Will Eric Lindros retire after this season? I don't know. It's possible that he will, but that won't neccessarily be the case. Be that as it may, the only person that truly knows is Eric.. blah blah blah".
Shut 'er down there Bob.

hahah.....I like Millen..don't know why but he just makes me laugh, he's funny the way he reacts and is easily impressed with the plays or the players, I like the fact hat he's still impressionable

Almost as often, however, his segment is comprised of redundant generalizations and cliches: Another knowledgeable guy but full of cliches is Bill Watters on MOJO radio. He says these every day ad nauseum.... 1. At the end of the day..... 2. He's the straw that stirs the drink..... 3. That being said..... In fact, I think I've even heard him say all three in one sentence... "Yes, Mats Sundin can perform better...but that being said, at the end of the day, he's the straw that stirs the drink."
