Jeffrey Vanderbeek, a Wall Street executive who was a minority partner in the team, will own and operate the Devils. Vanderbeek expects to retain Lou Lamoriello and is seeking a new arena in Newark.

The attendance is usually low now because the Meadowlands is reachable only by car and it's a pain to get there. A Newark arena would be reachable by bus and rail. Even Ranger or Islander fans in New York or on Long Island could get there conveniently. As for safety in Newark, it should be quite good in that neighborhood.
