I have something to get off my chest, so this is going to be more of a rant than anything intellectually stimulating.
When Don Cherry says anything about Quebec, or Demers says anything about "non-anglophones" on the team and thier worthiness you hear about it until the cows come home and there are public out cries for someone to get fired or a public apology. Or the dreaded 7 second delay.
When the .... no no I won't curse .... When will TSN put Dumb and Dumber (Simmons and Healy) on a 7 second delay. Did anyone see the "2 minutes for Instigating" segment on TSN this week? It seems they were arguing the merits of Maxim Kondratiev. He was a defenseman who was recently traded in the Brian Leetch deal. Maxim had a hard time here in St. John's. He didn't know the language (sound familiar?), he was the only Russian on the team, and he was playing badly. You could tell his heart wasn't in it, and so he exercised a clause in his contract after being benched for numerous games to go back to Russia to play.
Well these to clowns made it seem that St. John's was like going to Alcatraz or something.
Healy: "He quit his team"
Simmons: "Of course he quit .. Have you ever been to St. john's?"
Healy: "yeah your right ... I'd quit there too!"
I was going to let it go, I wrote Simmons a letter explaining if he had said the same about Quebec he'd be fired now. I don't expect a response from him ... chicken s* ... no I won't curse. But TSN gets of scott free .... they basically slapped all Newfoundlanders in the face and not so much as an explanation. Half the country would have Don Cherry by the cashews if he had said this about Quebec. But since this was Newfoundland .... nothing. This was worse than a Newfie joke .... this was a blatant attempt to make this part of the country seem like hicks.
No wonder most the country hates anything to do with Toronto ..... it is full of idiots like those two bufoons!
