I expected the Sens to be in trouble this series because of their goaltending. Turns out I was wrong... it's their goal scoring that is killing them.
This team is far too mechanical... there doesn't seem to be a lot of passion or emotion involved.

Cox is one of the few Toronto writers that give you the straight goods on the leafs. I heard him on the Fan590 last night & he did predict this result. His overall prediction was TO in 7. I can't help but think that if the Sens had a coach with more fire that would publicly challenge poor performers ( coaches like Sutter or Tortorella) they would perform a lot better. Martin is great at teaching a system & discipline but he can't teach them to win. Everybody is nice and low key & that's the way they play. They may come back tomorrow but I can't see them winning game 7.

Leafs have an early 1-0 lead courtesy of a 5-on-3 shot off a Sen's skate. Then two powerplays back-to-back for Ottawa....zilch.
Belfour looks hot again. Now it's almost halfway through the second period and still 1-0.
Sens are useless so far in the last 4+ periods.

It's been confirmed. To beat the Leafs you just have to score. Once you've scored even one goal, you're guaranteed to win. The only games TO wins is when Belfour gets a shutout. So if Ottawa scores at all on Tuesday, the games in the bag.

So Alfredsson is right again. He predicted goals for Wednesday and a win today. Nice to see a hardworking guy like Fisher score. The only Toronto goal came on a 5 on 3.
Berg & Marchment on the ice for the leafs. Quinn must be trying to figure out a way to get McCabe & Leetch on every second shift without wearing them out.

Bee-yoo-ti-ful. Game 7. Belfour is the only reason this series is still going. Much like last year against Philly.
And we know what happened in Game 7 last year. I think it's gonna be another close one, though.
Leafs played a pretty disciplined game....but did not generate enough offensive forays at all.

All game sevens in the first round include Canadian-based teams in all of them thus far.

Thanks a lot Ottawa, thanks a lot.
It is 3-0 after one for the leafs & Kilger has a goal. That's a bad sign. Lalime has crushed any hope his team has by letting Joe N. squeeze a very weak 5 hole shot by him with just 15 seconds left in the period.
I've only seen the last 5 minutes but Ottawa is generating nothing - probably because they are are afraid to leave Lalime alone back there. Muckler has waited long enough. It's time to retool these pretenders.
Great. Another 1-2 weeks of those stupid car flags.
Go Flyers.

Lalime has let in two of the weakest goals you'll see....both off the left side by Nieuwendyk.
Belfour is hot again....but barring a miracle comeback....Lalime has gift-wrapped this series for the Leafs.
As Darren Pang on ESPN said, "You don't allow those goals in practice, never mind a Game 7."

As Darren Pang on ESPN said, "You don't allow those goals in practice, never mind a Game 7." Lalime looked good in game 6 but awful tonight - reminiscent of his game 7 performance in TO in 2002. Martin should bench him. Prusek couldn't be any worse. He needs the playoff experience because Lalime should be run out of Ottawa. EDIT: I guess Martin was listening & has seen enough. Prusek is in & the Sens have scored. Early in the the second it's 3-1 leafs. If Muckler has Lalime back next season he should be fired.

I subjected myself to most of the second period. If I thought a first minute goal would spark Ottawa I was wrong. They are not working Belfour very hard and they have had two useless powerplays.
I hope they prove me wrong but after losing to Toronto for the 4th time in 5 years they are officially pathetic.
If it wasn't for the Senators, leaf fans would have nothing to brag about.

Here's my post after that brutal Sens' effort in Game 5: "And the Sens choke huge. They go down 1-0 early in the third and generate.....nothing. Nieuwendyk scores to make it 2-0. How can you dominate a team and get 30+ shots on goal 4 games in a row....then turn in as low intensity a game as this? Effort tonight based on the previous 4? -1 They took advantage of nothing. Leafs had 6 freakin' shots on goal when they got that lucky bounce off Smolinski's skate for the first goal. If the Sens lose this series, they'll go back to this game as the reason....and Jacques Martin....pack your bags. ...the Sens played with fire the whole game by not generating the pressure they're more than capable of generating." Apparently, Muckler chewed them out after that game. Too late....they absolutely gave the Leafs Game 5...and they're paying for it now big time. Killer instinct in EVERY game...you'd think they'd have learned that in 4 tries. Of course, tonight, Lalime didn't give them a chance. Win Game 5....different story. Of course I'm writing this in order to change the luck tonight...

Without the Sens, the Leafs wouldn't be anywhere. The Sens aren't as great a team as they like to boast they are. Same with the Canucks.

If Muckler has Lalime back next season he should be fired. If Lalime has a contract for after t his season the Sens are stuck with him -- even Mad Mike wouldn't trade for him! And the horror of the night: that Kilger scored.

I heard on a radio show today that he is an RFA but I don't know for sure. You're right, he is . . . but they don't have anyone else, and while there are some UFAs available, it'll be a cash decision (there is a rumour -- strike that, a suggestion -- that the Sens should go after Belfour at the end of the season. At least then he won't beat them. Hasek will be to expensive. Garon will stay with the Habs unless there is amazing improvement on the farm. Look to the Island -- maybe Mad Mike hasn't learned his lesson -- DiPietro for Bonk?
