It's always been there, in the back of my mind ; why not put enormous goalies in nets. I'm talking about huge guys here, sumos or circus giants, 7ft 500lbs. Men that size would cover 80-85% of the net wether standing up or on their flank. I know it's silly but I'm sure I'm not the only one to have thought about it.

I know the net is smaller but it works in lacrosse.

I play deck hockey with a 6'7'' (amateur, and not specially "big") goalie. His size obviously help him covering the net. But I don't know if someone this tall could develop the reflex skills needed for pro hockey.

The height of the person is a factor, but I think that it's really the weight that will make an impact. There's lot of overweight people out there, 600lbs, 700lbs, like the famous Jackie (Jerry Springer show) who was 950lbs. Put a guy that size in the net and I'm pretty sure nothing will go in. Plus, these guys dont need that much padding anyway.

Extremely fat people wouldn't have the stamina to last a period and exactly how would they stand on skates? I don't think training skates would fly in the NHL.
