Al Strachan in Sunday's Toronto Sun:
"Although they were technically within the rules, the deals that sent Petr Nedved to the Edmonton Oilers, Geoff Sanderson to the Vancouver Canucks, Brian Savage to the St. Louis Blues, and Jim Dowd to the Montreal Canadiens all seemed to be a bit fishy.
The New York Rangers, managed by Glen Sather, are paying Nedved's salary while he plays for Sather's former team.
The Minnesota Wild, managed by Doug Risebrough and coached by Jacques Lemaire, both former Canadiens, virtually gave Dowd to Montreal."
Not as fishy as your columns, Al. This guy reeks of unprofessionalism.

In the case of Martin Rucinsky, "Tis better to give than to receive."

The Dowd deal is nothing like the others. The Habs are paying his salary and gave up a 4th rounder. Hardly a giveaway.
As usual, Strachan fails to do his homework or provide sources. Why should I be surprised. He calls the integrity of Lemaire, Gainey & Risebrough into question & wonders why people like Brian Burke will attack him publicly. And his continual appearances on Hot Stove undermine the credibility of their broaadcasts.
The Sun really needs a revamping of their sports department. Simmons & Strachan have to go.

hmmmm,
any different than Ron Francis for a fourth rounder?
Oh right, its ok to give players to the leafs.
And I used to like Strachan on the Hot Stove.

To quote a relaible hockey source, quite unlike Al Strachan, when asked what he thought of Al Strachan
"Ohhh What a Maroon!!" Bugs Bunny circa 1960.
And I am quite sure even that is a compliment, because the Maroons were a good franchise unlike the drivel he supports.
btw : I say we make a push to get 2 hockey teams back in Montreal, move the Pens! j/k Montrealer ....just kidding. ;D

And I suggest that Strachan should shut up, but that would be just down-right rude of me, wouldn't it?

Actually, I would love to see Montreal with two teams again. I know economically it wouldn't make much sense, and I know emotionally the only fans would be Anti-Hab people, who are my enemies (heh) - still, it would be sweet to have an intra-city rivalry. That being said, if you have to move the Penguins anywhere (poor Pittsburgh - it's a good hockey town), move 'em to Ville de Quebec.
