Stan Fischler / FOX Sports Net Mike Keenan coaching Ottawa? The Iron One already has contacted John Muckler via agent Rob Campbell. Others pursuing the Sens are Keith Acton and Craig Ramsay. Joel Quenneville also is on the Ottawa list, and JQ appears to be in the Rangers' crosshairs, as well. Acknowledging he's talked to Florida, former Sens coach Jacques Martin reveals that there are two other clubs already on his list, neither of which is Phoenix. Still, JM says he is interested in the Coyotes. Concern about the NHL's CBA future is so keen even Las Vegas' oddsmakers are getting involved. One such betting guru, Bobby Bryde, tells us the odds on a work stoppage are 3-1 in favor of a lockout. - www.foxsports.com/content/view?contentId=2393592

This might be the right time for NHL Assistant Coaches to seek a Head Coach position. Teams looking to hire have to take the labour situation into account, and could land Acton and/or Ramsay a lot cheaper than Martin or Quenneville. Acton has been under Quinn's large wing for some time, and Ramsay had a tenure with the insanity that is Booby Clarke. It would be very ironic if Craig Ramsay got the job in Ottawa. One, he'd be going to a team who's late Asst Coach was the guy he replaced in Philly. Two, his GM would be a former GM of Buffalo where Craig played much, if not all, of his NHL career. I wouldn't touch Keenan with a ten foot pole. I think Keenan's out of touch with the NHL game, and his record after Boston is less than noteworthy. Ofcourse, if Muckler is interested in getting guys like Matteau and Noonan (who've played for Keenan just about everywhere he's coached) then it could be a good move.
