Reports today on radio all but confirming that Ken Dryden will run in Art Eggleton's riding for the Federal Liberals.
If true, say goodbye to the President of the Leafs. You gotta think he'd win that riding.

REPORT: Dryden making move to politicsThe National Post reports that Ken Dryden will be introduced by the Liberal party as a candidate in York Centre riding in Toronto. Sources told the paper that Prime Minister Paul Martin is expected to appoint the Toronto Maple Leafs president on Friday. The seat is now occupied by Art Eggleton, who has reportedly agreed to step aside. Eggleton was a cabinet minister in Jean Chretien's government and also served as mayor of Toronto. A federal election is widely expected to be called shortly for June 28. Dryden played his entire NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens, leading the team to six Stanley Cup Championships which included four straight from 1976 to 1980. He also won and shared five Vezina Trophies, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983. www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=83757

I think his style makes him a better candidate for the Senate.

H'mm... Eggleton steps aside. Another Chretien loyalist eased out.

They can have him. He hasn't done or said anything worthy of my attention since he undid his laces for the last time. Too bad. He could have taken a different road and made a difference in the game in a positive way all these years.
