www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=84011No Habs named to the Roster however I was surprised that Richards was chosen in favour of Lecavelier and that Rick Nash didn't make the team even though he tied for the goal-scoring lead in the NHL this season. Should be interesting this late summer/fall.

Some of the choices are terrible?
Kirk Maltby???- WHo what
Kris Draper???- Who what
Steve Yzerman???- Old Older Oldest
Ryan Smyth???- DId nothing on Team Canada in World Championships
Adam Foote???- SLow footed at his age
Simon Gagne???- This guy only gets injured he is as much a bomb as Kariya
Brenden Morrow???-Wasnt that good at world championships either
Eric Brewer??? average defenceman
Robin Regehr???-One good playoffs and all of a sudden
My choices instead of these
Mike Peca- Still has got it
Vince Lecavalier-Outstanding in playoffs
Brad Stuart- Stable defenceman and consistent
Derek Morris- Offensive D
Sheldon Souray- love his temperment
Nick Boynton- Steady D and/or
Kyle Mclaren
Daniel Briere- Shown he belongs
Gary Roberts- a veteran who still has legs
Steve Rucchin-a good steady player

After watching game 7, still asking myself why is Vinnie not on Team canada and old man Stevie Y is on or even Kirk Maltby sheesh, and Primeau should be on too

Now Rob Blake is out with shoulder problems. Replacement? Well, Leaf Nation is all in favour of Bryan McCabe.
Bill Watters (on June 14) saying, "It's Bryan's time. He's the right age. He had a great season...not a particularly good series against Philly...but he's the best choice."
How about Aucoin? He logs the most ice time of almost anyone in the league. He's solid, stay-at-home, and can still put up the points. McCabe had good numbers, but I'd take Aucoin over a quick-tempered, cheapshot artist who yells at the refs after every call. Pat Quinn will probably select him though.
Also, from Leaf land discussion.....
Ron Francis went from (when he was picked up) "Wow, what a deal by Fergie. Ronnie's really going to help this team down the stretch and into the playoffs. Another future Hall-of-Famer....blah blah blah."
To (as of July 14) "Well, he's too slow. The game has passed him by. Matt Stajan should have been in there. There was a well-kept secret in Carolina that Ron Francis wasn't the same Ron Francis we expected."
Well-kept secret? Every game is on video tape...the guy was 41 years old....do some research.
Lots of concerns around the league that the Leafs are sitting now with approx. $65 million in payroll for next season...not doing much to help the overall financial health of the league. The only good thing is that it's the same group of injury-prone geezers that ran out of gas this year...and if there is a lockout...it'll be almost total rebuilding for Taranna.

It's a good thing Blake Wheeler is American or he might have replaced Mario Lemieux on the team? Are you saying Blake Wheeler is to Jeremy Roenick as Vincent Lecavalier is to Steve Yzerman??? I think Lecavalier should have been chosen ahead of Yzerman and I think Keith Primeau should have been chosen ahead of Draper or whatever. And what about Souray to replace Blake? |
