CALGARY—The selection of Robin Regehr of the Calgary Flames to Canada's team for the World Cup of Hockey verifies his newfound status as one of the NHL's elite defencemen.
He broke both legs in a car crash in July 1999 and to see where he is now speaks volumes for his determination to succeed.

?? If so an interesting connection .......Over Xmas I saw several games at the Dome and I was amazed at how much both Leopold and Regehr were improving. They've cut down on the "rookie mistakes" and are developing beautifully. Regehr reminds me of Foote. He is a nasty, nasty piece of work. And Leopold is so intelligent....... Since Sutter isn't exactly the biggest Gauthier supporter and the Flames don't seem to miss him, I wonder how long he'll stay a Flame. Anyone know how long he's signed for?
