Over Xmas my friend and I made up World Cup rosters for most of the countries. We were amazed at the talent on the Slovakian squad. They're very deep at forward and good enough to beat anyone on a given day. Whats even more impressive is the team that would have been if Czechoslovakia were still a nation.

Slovakia released their World Cup roster. no big surprises. their fwd group looks impressive, although they are mostly skill and speed with little or no physical play. look at this: Palffy-Demitra-Hossa Gaborik-Stumpel-Satan Bondra-Handzus-Nagy Zednik-Orszagh-Radivojevic their D, OTOH, seems very thin. they will probably play Chara and Visnovsky for 25+ minutes every game, like they have so far in IIHF competitions. their goaltending doesn't appear to be top notch, but Lasak has always been great playing for their national team. he hasn't adjusted to the NHL style of play so that could be a problem as the WC games will be played in smaller NHL rinks.
