#1 - Vladimir Malakhov #2 - Alexei Kovalev #3 - Richard Zednik #4 - Alexei Yashin #5 - Vinny Lecavalier #6 - Mariusz Czerkawski #7 - Jose Theodore #8 - Curtis Joseph #9 - Viktor Kozlov #10 - Teemu Selanne
hmmm an abundance of Russians...no bias there though as Malakhov was my favorite playerwhen he was with the Habs and I would love for Kovalev to remain a Hab...

I am guessing it is a list a players who have big year one year and bomb the next ...... impossible to predict from one year to the next what they will do. It is surprising that Kariya is not on the list.

OK, here's a question for you to jostle you from your ennui for a few moments: Which of those enigmas is most likely to break the mold and become a real force? I nominate Lecavalier.

He's the youngest of the bunch...it would make more sense for him to learn new tricks than all the other "old dogs"! THF

Why is Zednik on your list? What makes him enigmatic?

Why is Zednik on your list? What makes him enigmatic? The month of February. (in the last 2 seasons nearly 60 goals were scored by Mr Zednik - a grand total of 2 in both Februaries...)

Sorry, but Selanne and Cujo are not enigmas in the slightest... Selanne had a decade of great, consistent production and was always among the best snipers in the game. Cujo has always played well in both the regular season and playoffs, even if he hasn't been able to win the big one. So many other great players have suffered the same fate; to regard them as enigmas for this is unfair.

Frankly, up until last year, you could list Scott Niedermeyer as an enigma. Here's a guy, supposed to be one of the most gifted defenseman of our time, and he consistently struggles to put up 30 points a year. What's the deal with that?
Other enigmas... Oleg Tverdovsky, Eric Daze, Chris Drury (great in the clutch, but you expect so much more throughout the season), Maxim Afinogenov, Geoff Sanderson, and perhaps the greatest enigma of them all, Petr Nedved.
