Leafs TV and more specifically Leafs Lunch is reporting that a deal is all but done, and an announcement is close, if not imminent.
Dennis Bayek received a call just before noon today from a source in the League Office stating that they were just crossing the t's and dotting the eye's today and tomorrow.
Basically unless the bottom falls out, they're saying it's a done deal.

I just noticed that Eklund reported this same story at 12:47pm. I can confirm I heard the news myself on Leafs Lunch off the top of their show at approximately 12:10pm.
Eklund definitely can't claim to the only media on this one. I wonder if he is hearing elsewhere, or just taking the news directly from Leafs Lunch?

Good pickup Ryan, thanks.
I don't think Eck has any special sources but he's very good at gathering all that's available to report it. Of course he usually also puts his own "mustard" on top of it... which is ok, makes it entertaining.
...that being said, until I see an official report, the fat lady is still singing.

For those that don't listen to the program, I happen to listen everyday (I don't know why either) and can assure you that Dennis Bayek is far from a rumour monger and for him to go over the air with any info such as this means he's very confident in his source.
Let's just hope it's a done deal.
I fear that Mr. Grumpy Pants is about to snap, and Leaf fans could feel his wrath.

okay so seriously for once. I have to agree with the good Doc. There has been too much stuff going on for too long and I for one have been over the roller coaster one to many times for this to really get me excited. However, I am keeping my fingers crossed that this isn't just another tease. But when the source has anything to do with the Leafs.....

everything is good and great and wonderful. D is doing well too. We took the opportunity that the lock out provided to start playing the game ourselves again, and really enjoyed it. I hope all is well with You and yours?

www.tsn.ca/columnists/bob_mckenzie.asp?id=126682McKenzie: Deal done? Not so fast...With regard to a report from a Toronto radio station that agreement on a new CBA is imminent or effectively done or just requiring the dotting of I's or crossing of T's, we present for your consideration reaction to that...from people who are actually part of the negotiations. The first person could not be more succinct though it does require some editing. "Total horsebleep," is what one individual said of the report suggesting a deal is virtually done. The second person was equally emphatic. "A deal is definitely not done and much work remains to be done. I don't know where this deal is done nonsense is coming from." One of those quotes came from someone on the NHL side. One of them came from the NHLPA side. And who said the NHL and NHLPA can't agree on anything? The truth is there is widespread expectation that a deal is going to be done, sooner rather than later. It's extremely doubtful that we should be anticipating that deal being done in a matter of hours. Could it be just days away? Perhaps. Could it be weeks? Perhaps. Could it still blow up? Perhaps. If you're frustrated by the lack of absolutes there, if you're dismayed at our reporting skills for mouthing what any hockey fan at home could figure out for himself, well, that's the reality of this situation. Collective bargaining is a delicate process. Until the deal is done, fully done, it's not done at all. And it is, apparently, not yet done. And as often as I get lied to in this business, I'm prepared to take "the deal is not done" responses from the individuals involved at face value. Unfortunately, there are likely to be a lot of these "deal is done" reports surfacing in the next little while, what with the two sides clearly on the right track to reaching an agreement. One of them will actually prove to be true and someone will get the scoop. But you would like to think we all would have learned our lessons from the last time out, that fateful Friday in February when The Hockey News jumped the gun and posted a website story that said the deal was done. It wasn't, as we all found out on what has become known as "Sad Saturday." Clearly, we are now closer to getting that deal. Much closer. But it's not done, not yet anyway. For TSN.ca, I'm Bob McKenzie.

If this goes I'd be surprised that they didn't wait until the 11th hour so they could annoint themselves saviours to the sport by "saving the second season."
Even if this deal gets done they still have problems to iron out. Ticket and concession prices to name only two. Until they get ironed out I don't think I'd rush out to see an NHL game.
Until costs become reasonable again they can kiss my grits!
Cheers.

I agree with you on that one Dis,we all know way to well that any deal won't reflect significantly in ticket prices. I'm so sick of this whole thing I too won't get overly excited until the news is official. It will be curious if Direct T.V. will suffer should ESPN not participate in any broadcasts. For the most part you see the local feeds on the braoadcasts, but will that mean that not all the games will be available? phil
