It's a good move for both I think. Phoenix gets a very good goalie who just never fit in Detroit. If he bounces back with a strong year, he'll get a long term deal out of it.

I don't think he will be getting any more long term deals. He is already 38. He could be just insurance for a year until someone younger comes along next season.
