It comes as no surprise that two of the brainiacs who want Saskin replaced are Tie Domi and Chris Chelios.
Chelios has made one disastrous comment after another since the lockout began. Now, it seems, he has replaced Bettman with Saskin as his whipping boy.
I still think Saskin can take a lot of credit for getting the game back on the ice this year.
What do some of these guys want?

What do some of these guys want? Last year's season . . . last year's contract . . . last year's money . . . and Bettman to say that the new CBA is all a mistake and that he'll do whatever the PA wants.

It's not so much Saskin but the way it was done. There was no search committee set up as other player unions have done and the whole thing took place over a 5 hour conference call.
The perception is that it was forced through. As well, Saskin is scheduled to make 2 million US a year. As a comparison , Donald Fehr of the MLB union makes 1 million.
Saskin would likeley get chosen anyway but they should at least give people the impression that they are following the rules.
BTW did anyone watch TV Ontario last night at 8PM. Steve Paikin had a sports panel on last night. Elliotte Friedman of CBC was telling a story about Trent Klatt, one of the players leading this challenge against Saskin's appointment. Apparently, Klatt is retiring and walking away from $900,000.00 because he has been threatened with retribution. You never know how much truth there is to these stories but it certainly is bad PR.

Ahhh a crook by any other name ..... I don't give much credit to saskin for getting the deal done. Once negotiations between Bettman and Goodenow went sour and Daly and Saskin were the "front" men, it seemed to me that daly came across more professionally and with more creditibility. Conversely, both Bettman and Goodenow IMO were painted black. I credit Linden, and some of the players on the executive for finally seeing the writing on the wall. But if you compare it to the NFL and the NBA Saskin makes less. I do give him some credit for also applying the 24% roll back to his own salary, but if I was making 2.5 million I wouldn't grumble over losing that $500,000 too much. But what would Domi have to complain about then? (or us for that matter. )

When Saskin took over, did he grant Goodenow a full Presidential pardon?

But if you compare it to the NFL and the NBA Saskin makes less. Saskin is making more than Donald Fehr (MLBPA boss) and Billy Hunter (NBAPA boss), but less than Gene Upshaw (NFLPA boss). I read it here.

Absolutely. The whole thing reeks of friends nominating friends and bypassing every rule to do so. Domi and Chelios are certified morons but in this case they are absolutely right. Saskin could be the best men for the job but the very least the Exec. Commitee could have done is interview a couple of candidates to have comparison basis. Seems like the NHLPA can never quite break from their Michey Mouse organization tag.

Chelios needs to raise his IQ at least 30 points to become a moron. Domi on the other hand seems to be an intelligent businessman and hospital handshaker off the ice. On the ice he wears a white maple leaf on a blue sweater and punches out guys twice his size; nuff said.
