I have to say I've found the first two games of this series... boring. Sure, there aren't many stoppages but both teams seem to be trapping fairly well and there aren't a lot of scoring chances. It's been hard for me to watch. I'm sure the late starts haven't helped, either.

Then again, being in the central rather than the Eastern time zone probably helps as well.

Wow, Oil go up 3-0 with a thriller from Rexall. Up 1-0 after 40 only to see the floodgates open and 8 goals in the third for a 5-4 nailbiter that went down the wire. Fun hockey to watch!! Fun to see a team playing like a team and finding ways to win even when outplayed a bit. That momentum is a wonderful thing when it is going in the right direction.

I caught only the last minute. But what was Cherry alluding to at the end when he said, "Shoulda got that goalie out after the first period."? Did Roloson have the flu, or was he talking about the Ducks' goalie? He talked about showing the turning point on Thursday.
Does it sound as if the CBC crew is behind the Oilers?

He was talking about Bryzgalov since he showed him being too loose playing the puck, which led to Peterson's goal.

What a horribly officiated second period in Game 4. Phantom calls, little tugs....then both refs totally missed Rem Murray leaving both feet and crushing a Duck D-man which led directly to Laraque's goal that brought them to within one at 4-3. Harry Neale mentioned it after the second replay.
I really hope Neale and Cole are restricted to Leaf games only next year. Seniority is not the path to follow. They are the two worst. But they'll have the finals no doubt. Jim Hughson and anybody but Neale would be my choice. This isn't a case of age-ism. They simply aren't getting the job done.
At one point, Neale couldn't remember the Rexall Place....he said, "here at...this arena...in Edmonton." Next time look at centre ice, Harrry. Cole was asleep before, during, and after Lupul's goal that made it 5-3. Likely the biggest goal of the game, seeing as how Edmonton was coming on....just brutal play-by-play.
Back to the game, Roloson is showing chinks in the armor now, and he can't deal with it. He's whining and complaining to the ref at least 5 times a period. He's confusing people being around his crease as interfering with him. They're not. And I think that if anybody has a chance to come back from a 3-0 defiicit....it's the Ducks. I really thought Edmonton got a break over Detroit in Game 6. And I think Roloson has been playing over his head...all the games have been close. If the Ducks keep up their dominant shot count in the series and make it 3-2....look out. All the pressure will be on Edmonton in Game 6.

Damien Cox of The Star mentioned today that Roloson has now played 35 of the Oilers last 36 games. He's bound to blow up sooner or later. The diving thing and the mask coming off are getting a little pathetic now. Stop complaining and just play.

Sabres are in tough now. 3 of their top 4 defensemen are injured. Last night's 4-0 loss to the Canes was sad to see. Rhythm was gone....but full credit to Carolina for capitalizing on it. Tallinder's out for sure with a broken arm....but without the other two, Kalinin (ankle, indefinitely) and Numminen (groin, day-to-day)....winning this series seems remote.
Never say never...but Carolina is too strong when given those factors IMO.

Sabres force Game 7. 2-1 OT. Depleted defense...playing on guts and glory. Carolina with another bounce into the top corner to tie it late in the third. Man, they've sure got their share of fortune in these playoffs....almost maddening.
Nice to see Briere's PP winner bounce the right way for the Sabres. Weight takes the boarding call early in OT.

How does Buffalo continue to get it done with their top D men out. Incredible. Good for them.
I'll take the Carolers

Add him to Tallinder & Kalinin (sp?) and maybe Numminen as well. I can't see how they are keeping the score down & hanging around in games for so long.

Everyone's favourite douchbag, Williams, scores the EN goal to clinch it for Carolina.
The Ping Pong Hurricanes do it again.
