Make my New Year happy from the start -- do it, Bob.

Theo's value just turned down again after his performance against Pittsburgh but since the Habs aren't going to trade him, it doesn't make any difference.
His salary is making me feel like we have another Brisebois situation.... a guy with a big contract who isn't playing a "big contract" level. It sure limits what we can do with our payroll in terms of adding talent at other positions.

I really wouldn't bat an eye if Theo were moved right now. I'm tired of "hoping" for his miracle season to return. The problem is virtually every shooter in the NHL knows he's easily beaten high and he hasn't really done anything to improve that part of his game. He is also become completely unreliable in pressure situations. I wish a Luongo for Theo trade would just miraculously happen at this point. We would not be any worse off that's for sure.

Tanguay would become an instant scapegoat around here as he is solely a finess player. But we need more of those (scapegoats I mean).

Tanguay would become an instant scapegoat around here as he is solely a finess player. Last season, and this season, he's been producing over a PPG. If he came to Montreal and did that, then I doubt anybody would care about his one-dimensional game. If players like Ribeiro and Zednik put up numbers like Tanguay, then they wouldn't be getting criticized the way they do. Hab fans become irate when you don't produce and, on top of that, don't bring anything else to the table either.

If Lacroix is targeting an Eastern Conference goaltender he may have more luck talking to Buffalo - although with Biron's play lately I'm sure his price tag has gone up.
