He's been playing way over his head ever since mid december and just pull an Ovechkin type of performance tonight in a game where, coincidence, there were scout from all over the league (according to Pedneault).
Bulis is on his last year before free agency I believe and if that is so, he will most certainly create a bidding war for his service in the summer, bidding war that will make him an overpaid player who got his money because his best year was... his UFA year...
Bulis is also the kind of player that we have in abundance in Montreal or in Hamilton.
We keep saying how you buy low and sell high: now is the time to sell.
Come on Bob... Swing for the fence!

Agree good time to trade Bulis possibly he wants to test the free agent market but nit for Arnason not now and not before

Jean Pagé was on TQS saying that there was talks about a Bulis-Arnason trade before tonight's game... I'd love to see a scouting report on Arnason. But with the numbers he's putting up these days, I'd be interested - younger and more productive than Bulis, if he's a hard worker, we've got a winner. But I can't see why CHI would trade their top forward for one of our 3d liners.

Also: I'd be comfortable sending him out West if it means getting back a player that Gainey and Carbonneau have seen a lot of. Edit: Found this: msn.foxsports.com/nhl/player?statsId=2943Somehow, I get the feeling we're looking at a Western Ribeiro - which might not be bad, since Arnason might just not be suited to the top-line day in and day out, yet be a very useful 2nd or 3d liner. But again, why give him up for Bulis? I'd guess that Ribs would be more attractive than Bulis for CHI. Edit#2: I think that before moving Bulis, Gainey will see what he does over a few more games. Gainey is renowned for his patience, I expect before moving someone he just had a long talk with, he'll see if he can keep it up. In a post-game interview, Gainey said essentially "I had a talk with Bulis, and tonight he did what he said he'd do". I think Gainey will want to see the long-term result before moving him.

I honestly didn't see him play enough games to have an educated opinion about him...

As for being younger, I believe he is only a year younger than Bulis... In any case, this wouldn't be the kind of trade that shakes things off... not big enough, imo.

Bulis is also the kind of player that we have in abundance in Montreal or in Hamilton. How many 6-1 210 lb forwards do we have that can skate like the wind, play a two-way game, throw his wight around, kill penalties and score a few goals now and then. I count one.... including Bulis.

Something must be brewing,it is very odd that Bulis was to be scratched,he's been the Habs best player in this awful month. There is a large number of bodies around so does anyone smell a deal? If Bulis was a part of a deal maybe the Habs have changed their minds or his stock just rose up. I smell something it may not be Bulis but something is up. HFTO

I would trade Bullis in a flash, for Ovetchkin, Kovalchouk or Crosby. All these trade speculations are based upon other GM's being stupid. Aside from the Thornton trade, there have been few lopsided trades this year. Realistically, none of the Hab's are at the top of the other GM's lists. We could probably get something for Kovalev from a team looking for the missing part for their playoff run, but who wants Theo or Bullis or Sundstrom and is willing to give up good young talent in return?

Was thinking before the game that we have too many players who can't score, and maybe we could get something for Bulis, perhaps in a package. Then he went and scored 4 goals.... Now I wonder if the offensive potential we saw years ago is going to come out afterall.

Trading Bulis is a bad idea. He is a good two way player with size. need to get rid of players like Riberio that in my oponion are not worth much in today's NHL.

I really have no interest in trading Jan. Why get rid of someone who is doing their job? Jan is an indispensible player for us, and removing him from the roster creates a hole. Are we expecting Higgins to slot into where Bulis is now? Should we give Higgins the chance to be more, while Bulis continues to do yeomans work for us in a number of roles? I think Bulis is one guy to keep, and you need people like him if you're going to win.
By many accounts Arnason is no improvement over Ribeiro. Why make that move? If we did, why not trade one struggling centre for another instead? That said, I think we may have our #2 centre already. His name is Tomas Plekanec.
Instead of plotting the next guy to run out of town for no reason, and not make a clear improvement of the team in the process, let's concentrate on improving the areas that really need it. With Plekanec back, and deserving of a chance on the second line, let's look at improving the blueline. Even with Markov and Souray in the lineup, the unit as a whole could be better.
I know there are a lot of Cube supporters on here. Franky is all heart, and that is great to see, but the caviat is his size. Whenever anyone talks about Francis, it's "If he was 6'3 and 220 he'd be an all-star" etc, etc. Well, he isn't. He hasn't got enough offensive skills to make up for his inability to clear the front of the net. Can he hit? Yes. Unfortunately he hasn't got the leverage to move big forwards. We could also use a strong puck mover back there; one who can realistically run the PP. If I had to pick one area to address, I would address the need within our own end. It's easier to improvise the PP, and I think we may see Kovalev back there for a spell.

Blast me all you want but I herd from someone who's friends with Bulis that he told Gainey that he won't be signing with Montreal when he's a UFA at seasons end. He's sick of the taxes in Quebec.

I’d trade Bulis, but not for the wrong guy. The only thing Arnason would do is take ice-time away from Plekanec, no way I’d do that.
Our defense is a mess right now, but that’s understandable because we are missing our top 2 D (Markov and some guy that’s currently playing for someone else), plus Souray is out. I’d rank our D like this:
1. Markov 2. ? 3. Rivet 4. Souray 5. Bouillon 6. Dandenault 7. Komisarek 8. Streit 9. Cote
It’s not that bad if we get Markov back and land a legitimate #2. Filling the ? on D has got to be top priority. If including Bulis in a package gets us that guy, then include Bulis.
I wouldn’t trade Bulis for a 3rd pairing D-man, we definitely don’t need another one of those.
Bulis will be a UFA this summer, he has value and we don’t want to lose him for nothing. He’s entering his prime, he’s going to Turin, and if he can continue scoring at better than 0.5PPG then he is a valuable 3rd liner in this league. I guarantee that he will have no problem signing a UFA contract this summer, teams will have interest. It’s up to Bob to make a smart move here. Sign him before the deadline, or move him to improve the team (same goes with Koivu).

1. Markov 2. ? 3. Rivet 4. Souray 5. Bouillon 6. Dandenault 7. Komisarek 8. Streit 9. Cote Move Cote up on the depth chart one spot this year, and into #5 for next year (provided he gets some playing time).

I really have no interest in trading Jan. Why get rid of someone who is doing their job? Because a player who's not doing his job is essentially untradable? And we have so many holes that this team needs a shakeup, and wingers with speed are something we have more of. I'd rather we sign him to an extension, but if he wants out, I'd rather be getting something in return.

Two, trading him for Arnason makes no sense. In that deal we don't get rid of a problem, and seemingly take on someone elses. Three, getting Arnason doesn't address our problems. If we're gonna give up an asset with Bulis' value - even if he is a UFA - then it has to be something more substantial; even it is part of the package. Honestly, I didn't know Jan was a UFA. Regardless, I think he's an asset to keep.
