It's performances like these that make you remember why the Habs have been keeping Ribeiro around.
I've said it before and i'll say it again...i see absolutely no reason why Ribeiro can't at least develop into a Yanic Perreault type center. He's not the ideal guy to have playing behind Koivu, but Ribeiro is also too interesting a prospect to simply lose on waivers.

I like the motion and skating to the net style now exhibited by our forwards. even guys like mcay and ribeiro are working hard. I dont know how long it will last but it sure is fun to watch. ya think garon starts thursday?

Anyone who said Zednick will never be a true first line scoring winger is going to have to rethink that projection. The two goals he scored tonight were both displays of uncommonly good hands. The first was on a pass that had so much mustard on it that the blade of his stick was driven back by about a foot. The backhander was as good as it gets. The question will soon be whether he'll reach 35 or even 40.

wow, unbelievable, watching the mt coached canadiens i didn't think it was possible for them to play with as much heart as they did tonite, i didn't think they had it in them... boy i have never felt better at being wrong. i truly hope we see more of this quality play from "monster" mike ribeiro(please forgive the pierre macguire allusion ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) ). maybe if quintal and mckay fought worrel they'd stand a chance, but you have to admire Q for trying; i love that guys like him, rivet and mckay are standing up for themselves and the team. the whole team played well, even traverse(laying the body!!!) and you know things have to be going well if thats the case.

Highest scoring match for our habs since CJ took over. This kind of score could have happened earlier. We're beginning to bury our chances and getting more and more confidence.

Nice game by Ribs. getting better line mates that can scate helped him out too ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Kilger looked rusty but didn't really hurt the team. Not as many def breakdowns today. two of their goals were flukish ( they all count ). We still need to be more psyhical in the defensive end, but played better positionally over all. Sure makes for a more interesting game to watch. About time we start using our speed on the forecheck and having better break outs. Almost like there's a SYSTEM !!!

Claude's right, that fight with Worrell earned him respect and honour from his team mates despite the fact that he lost the fight...way to go Stephane!

I hate to spoil the exultation but, what the heck, why not...... Ribs did score a pretty goal no doubt (which was irrelevant to the outcome of the game), and had 7 shots and all, but he still was a minus 1. In other words, despite appearances, where it counts he was a negative, not a plus. Doesn't look great to me. Fortunately Koivu's line and the 4th line (on for two even strength goals each and non against) did have great games, so we won. So far Ribs is still a one dimensional player who can at times look "great" but while doing it can lose hockey games for you. Although I must admit he did come back to pick off a dangerous looking Florida pass to the slot in the defensive zone. Plus the other guys on the ice have to share the blame. But, I remain to be convinced he's an asset. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

It was his best game by far ... but this just shows how bad he is when he is on a off night.

Well Bo, the only Leafs that will burn are the ones falling off the trees in my yard but it's a tad frosty for that. Just bringing folks back down to earth with some facts is all. On his best night, Ribs is still a minus player. Think about that. He's got to change that around, o/w he's a liability as far as building a cup contending team goes. I'll applaud the guy when he's really earned it. A free message to the Habs community, brought to you by one who's seen a lot of truly great players and teams.....wheez....creak. Cheers ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I've always felt a good coach can make a poor team competitive and a poor coach can ruin a talented team. Evidence continues to mount on that theory. We're not a poor team...we're a mediocre team, but with good coaching and great goaltending, we move into the echelon of, not the top 5, but just below that. So it's only his 6th game and sometimes the players can turn against you, but I think Mr Julien has got a head on his shoulders and gets my support for doing a very good job of handling a team that had their confidence in tatters. He is going to make Savard's job much easier. Do you think a CJ Czerkaski is a more valuable asset than an MT Czerkawski? So he is going to make our players better and improve their tradeability. Hey, at this rate, we should be able to move Traverse for another power forward by March.

Way to find the negative in the game! ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) WWT! I didn't find a negative in the game. It was a great game with a wonderful outcome. I am a big Ribeiro fan and want to see him get the chance he deserves. I'm happy to see him performing. I'd rather see our young guys getting a chance (Ribeiro, Hossa, Balej, Ward, Hainsey, Komisarek, Markov) than Savards aquisitions (Audette, Juneau, Dackell, McKay, Travesty) My thoughts are: 1. A good coach makes a world of difference. 2. Hard work pays big dividends. 3. Savard took too long to change coaches. (We all thought that) 4. The trade gave Boston much more than it gave us. (They got rid of a non performing asset and got a great goaltender they needed badly. We lost a great goaltender and got back another soft forward we didn't need who avoids the Red Light district. How badly a team needs a piece of the puzzle is often more important than which piece is better. If I'm playing poker and I have ace, king, queen, and jack I need a ten more than I need another ace. We wuz robbed.) 5. Hab's fans are happy once again and that is a very good thing. Things are getting better, the future looks brighter, and the playoffs are a probability not a possibility.

i think that most hockey people(experts and fans) would agree that a plus/minus rating is not everything, it does not always tell the whole story. i feel that since CJ has taken over the montreal bench the positives outweight the negatives by a long shot, and i think that mike ribeiro's play tonight is one of those positives. he played an outstanding game, and whatever the plus/minus stats say he was not a defensive liability. i am not claiming he is any kind of saviour, i am not even saying he is a true nhl-caliber player; however, i am saying that he had a GREAT game tonight, that showed all sorts of promise. montreal played an inspired game tonight; it wasn't perfect hockey, but it was a sound win in which they got a full effort(60 minutes worth!) from all players(despite their +/- rating), even players that don't always excel to the level they did tonight(we showed the value in our depth tonight). i was proud to be a habs fan tonight, and have a tough time agreeing with any of the posters that took a negative angle in their posts.
ps. maybe i am being a little too serious, and a little too proud... but that's 'cus i am a little too drunk ;D
GO HABS GO!!!
