One thing we need to understand is that none of us really knowwho he's been trying to get rid of/acquire, so who's to say he's not trying to move x player right now? Or hasn't been for a while? Odds are, for a guy like Quintal, he probably can't deal him, perhaps due to his salary, perhaps due to the fact he's been dealt twice in 2 years, perhaps due to the fact that he's struggling. I'm not sure who the heck is paying for that salary though, Rangers, Hawks, you guys, a combo, but he is making alot more than he should...... another problem with making trades is that it takes 2 to tango. I'm sure every team has players they want to get rid of, but does anyone else want them? It's tough.... sometimes a guy, like Traverse, he doesn't make much money so it's not too much of a problem keeping him around as a 6th or 7th dman. He's the kinda guy you can scratch and not have to worry about losing a ton of money on him... on the flip side, if you want to move a guy, scratching him is no way to stimulate other teams interest in acquiring him..... plus maybe he does feel certain guys can/will turn it around. Wasn't Quintal alright for you guys last year?... alot of guys might be unmoveable right now, but the market changes, especially around the deadline, and guys who would normally not have much value are suddenly generating interest.

O'Dette was a d-man 2-3 years ago, no? I mean he has to switch positions, that takes time... Ok, good point. Thats why we have Blouin on the roster over O'dette, IMO.

so then how do you explain the balls he has for keeping quintal around and the insane idea that traverse another of his buddies gets to stay in the lineup Traverse is a +3 and that doesn't happen by magic. I prefer Traverse to Dykhuis right now, but it's more cause I hate Dykhuis now. As for Quintal, well who would replace him? We don't have a RD to take his spot. Maybe thats why the Ference rumors are going around, if they still are.

Once Souray comes back. Dykhuis or Q sits IMO. Traverse stays as a bottom pairing d-man.
Souray-Briser Markov-Rivet
(wow...2 pretty good units potentially)
3rd pair: mix in Dyk, Trav, Q and Hainsey(if they call him up)

when we first aquired blouin, i wasn't that happy, and thought "why didn't we bring up o'dette". then someone said he was injured, and that was why... blouin was picked up when Q was injured because we had no tough guy at all, not that Q really is much of one, but he'll still play the part which is more than most players. don't know if that's true about o'dette or not, but if it is, then i think the deal was alright, we need a player like blouin every once in a while.
this is totally unrelated and shouldn't really be in the reggie houle thread, sorry...
