Say it aint so Bob .... this would be the dumbest move ever. What do we do if we make the playoffs? We have Huet back, Abby and this other guy (Garon ). The only way it makes sense is if a goalie goes the other way and we get another asset in return. So, I am hoping that if Bob "is looking for a goalie" it is because LA (or whoever) is saying ... "Ok, you can have Lappierre, or Blake, or whoever we are targeting ... but you have to take Garon as well. Garon, the guy with all of 1 playoff game experience. The guy who has a 3.00+ GAA and 0.900- S% since being traded to LA .... he is going to be our season saviour? No Bob, walk away ... People will say he was on a bad LA team ... can you get any worse than our defense? Remember our team gives up the most shots against in the league ..(LA is 18th) ... and Garon has only been averaging 27 shots against since being traded (Montreal gives up about 33 a game) and still has crappy stats. I am not sure I would want to pin my hopes on Halak ... but Biron would be the better option because he is a #1 goalie on any other team ... and we don't exactly have a number 1 guy.

Agree....Garon or Esche...bad moves.
Want a goalie...it's gotta be Biron. But who do we send to the Sabres to strengthen them?
Our net is wider than theirs right now...and they know it. Unless of course Halak is the real deal.....
It's a Bruce "Gamble".....

Huet and a first. (it has to be Huet, so we can afford Biron next year)

It sounds much like Bob's style, and it sends kind of a mixed message. Is he saying that he doesn't feel comfortable going with a Halak/Aebischer combo? And would feel better with a Halak/Garon combo, or (more likely), he thinks Halak is too young for the NHL since he has absolutely no grey hairs yet, and he'd prefer a Garon/Aebischer combo. If it is the latter, I'd have serious disagreement with him. I think they need to play Halak and if he has some rough spots, live with it till next year. Could be Georgie daddy is wanting that playoff spot and the money that goes with it, more than a good long term move (I'm shocked!, Shocked I say).

Garon: 8-7-5; .903 SV%; 2.80 GA Esche: 5-9-1; .872 SV%; 4.32 GA Halak: 2-0-0; .902 SV%; 2.50 GA ;D
Stats that don't mean all that much aside, are we that much any ahead with either of the "experienced" goalies? Methinks . . . no.
Let Halak play. He's just as likely (moreso, as opposing players don't know him yet) to win as the others.
Abby walks this summer; Halak comes up and backs up Huet (or Biron?).
Price moves to the AHL (if he is allowed?).
Cedrik or Denis play the AHL.

Heard McKenzie say that Gainey might be targeting Mathieu Garon in LA. Imagine that. Who? You know, that superstar we traded for Bonk and Huet.

I'm with Skilly on this one. Bringing in either Garon or Esche would just be a waste of resources and an indication that Gainey is just looking for expedients with no real plan at all.
And if BG is caving to Georgie boy applying the screws in the hopes of getting a couple of playoff gates the Habs are truly done for....short, medium and long term.
Might as well stick a fork in 'em right now.
Sheesh, I might have to take up the NBA.
And at my advanced age too. Oh my....
Well at least I can actually see the ball w/o replays.

You know, that superstar we traded for Bonk and Huet. My bad. I got him confused with the superstar who was traded for Aebischer (maybe the Habs can get him back instead).

Look at Carolina last year. Where did their 22 year old backup with no experience take them?

Look at Carolina last year. Where did their 22 year old backup with no experience take them? There is no doubt about that. Ward came in and stoned us. That series was ours if he hadn't been the polar opposite of Gerber. We were scoring at will in Games 1 and 2. And Ward proved it was no fluke...he was pulled in Game 4 vs. New Jersey...and that was his only blip. They beat the Devils in 5 games. The hottest goalie usually takes you right to Stanley.
