From Eklund:
Samsonov could interest Detroit.
Bertuzzi could interest Montreal.

I'm probably one of the few who thinks that Bertuzzi is still effective.

Is Bert not UFA? And do we want to pay that much for a guy who si going to spend time on IR (5.3M last year, and how close to 100% is his back, anyway?).
I guess he'll do better than Sammy, but he isn't the missing piece of the puzzle we need.

Might be a rehashing of an earlier rumour that had Bertuzzi coming to Montreal for Souray.
Looking at it from a trade perspective I think Gainey would be giving up one problem for another. Samsonov's issues are well documented while at the same time there seems to be a dark cloud following Bertuzzi wherever he goes these days.
It would be an expensive venture, but Gainey would have that second-line centre he's been looking for. Don't know if he can provide a Markus Naslund for him to play with but we do have some talented wingers just the same.
Cheers.

I believe Bertuzzi is a UFA so teams wouldn't have to trade for him & I think Detroit only gave up a low level prospect for him anyway.
I wasn't impressed with what I saw in the playoffs. Since the Moore incident Bertuzzi isn't the player he used to be.

The 2 rumors are unrelated folks, it's not a trade scenario, sorry if that wasn't clear.
I'm with JK on this, Bert really did not impress me in those playoffs but we have to remember that he was just coming back from a lenghty injury so he obviously wasn't at his best.

I don't think Big Bert's going to command a large dollar so he could be worth a flyer especially if you can som how dump Sammy's contract. HFTO

Bertuzzi's a winger, isn't he? If that's the case, he could be in good position for the several playmakers we have on this team. Bert has finish and can pile drive his way to the front of the net. We don't have many players who could do that; he would even produce more than Kovalev has been.

living in vancouver i would hazard to guess that bertuzzi doesn't want the spotlight anymore where he plays. montreal is the last place he'd want to play in, he can't take criticism.

Call it a hunch, but I bet Bertuzzi signs with Phoenix in the off-season.

I believe Mahoney's a competent mind and he'll probably stay away from Bertuzzi unless his hand is forced within the organization.

Again from Eklund this morning:
Word is the Habs are interested in "a very big signing, but it won't be Briere." That is interesting...More Vinny stuff? "No Comment"
Whatever it is, we could use a "Big Splash" in Habsland....

He sounds like MolsonMan: Somedody, somewhere might land in Montreal but who knows... ...I think the Bergeron rumors just made it to him and he hasn't figured out that it's been mainstream media for days. There is a lot of smoke coming out of Montreal mind you. maybe it's all triggered by Boivin's infamous quote but maybe the organization is indeed trying to move heaven and earth to land a big fish.

I hope that Fish's name means "The Horseman" in English!! ...the only way this happens is if he goes to see Feaster and tells him, thank you for everything Jay but I really want to go play for Montreal, but so far Vinny has always said that he's a happy camper in Tampa. He's, IMO, as untradable as you can get right now.

Bertuzzi is washed up, forget about him... Although.. playing him on a line with Latendresse couldn't be bad. Latendresse - Lapierre - Bertuzzi The only problem is that it makes our jogjam at RW even worse.. which of Ryder, Kovalev or Kostitsyn should play on the fourth line? Could always switch Ryder to LW.... Ryder-Koivu-Kovalev Higgins-Plekanec-Kostitsyn Latendresse-Lapierre-Bertuzzi Lahti-Begin- Samsonov would have to go for this to work out. the could be a resigned Mike Johnson or someone from the farm.
