Finnish, Flashy, drives fast cars...fast. What's there to say? I think he's waiting for Neidermayer to make up his mind. If Scott stays retired, Anaheim can afford Selanne and he returns.
If I'm Bob, I'd have Koivu parked outside his house washing and waxing his cars to get him to sign. Then trade Kovalev and a 2nd round pick for nothing to someone to clear out the Cap space.

That's what I've been hearing as well. The 590 even mentioned that if Scott signs this year that Salanne will more than likely sign in Montreal. Man, he would be the player that would push us over the line of mediocrity to contenders, IMO.

Every year for the last decade there has been some form and fashion of a rumour linking Selanne to Montreal. I'd like to see it, but everytime Teemu opens his mouth he talks about how much he loves the west coast. The travel might be easier on him in the east, but I think he likes the sunny-nopressure-climes of the west coast. He can shcmooze with the celebs in relative obscurity.

Where are they getting that from? Has anyone heard any other source saying this? Sounds like wishful thinking to me...

They've been saying it all summer, I guess he and Saku are good buddies, so they put two and two together, that sorta stuff.

It's already being discussed a few threads down HA, but do you have any new insights to stir the pot ?

As for something new.....a reporter friend (yes, one of those evil entities)....which is not worth anything more then a brick wall induced hallucination at this point. We should know very soon.

That would be a nice bone to throw to the fans for sure but seeing how Saku was kept out of the loop and how they botched the selling job on Briere, I have strong doubt they could get Selanne in even IF Teemue wants another kick at the can.

Don't know if I'm the only one but I find Selanne and Neidermayer keeping everyone in limbo is lacking a bit in the respect department towards the fans and the league. If in september you're still not sure if you want to play or not, I think you should hang 'hem up boys...

IMO I think that Salanne wants to play for the Ducks, but out of respect for Neidermayer he's allowing him to take his time to make a decision. After Neidermayer does that Salanne will decide on not what but where he'll play.

If the HAb's are really going after Salanne and I hear ONE half assed reason why the Hab's did not sign him, I am going to go nuts. Salanne wants five million, GIVE IT TO HIM. He is an impact player that WILL make a difference.

Me too, I think the Ducks are his first pick, if Neidermayer decides to retire then he'll play for the Ducks, if Neidermayer plays, then maybe....he'll look our way!!

He is an impact player that WILL make a difference. We can't afford 5 million .... we can afford 4.5 million BUT it comes at a cost. If we sign Selanne to more than 2.5 million, then Carey Price HAS to play in the AHL this year ... and a good portion of the year at that. Price's cap-hit this year if he meets all his playing bonuses (and there is no reason to think he wont if he starts the year with the Habs) is 2.2 million .... we current have 4.9 million in cap space available but that doesn not include Carey Price. So the only way we can afford Selanne (for more than 2.5 million) and still play Price is to dump Huet.

ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER/LOS ANGELES TIMES: both report forward Teemu Selanne is finding it difficult to make decision about retirement. The Register reports Anaheim Ducks GM Brian Burke denies Selanne's and Scott Niedermayer's indecisiveness regarding retirement isn't adversely affecting his team. Selanne tells the times that he only wants to play for the Ducks and laughed off rumours of his signing elsewhere. Spector

Are we short of people who are not sure if they want to play?

Salane is in my basement, or mor corectly in my walk in freezer doing laps. I told him if he does not sign with us, he should take a real close look at the large bag hanging on a hook with the "Hoffa" name tag.

Coulda used one-trick-pony only-scores-in-a-shootout Dags last night. Three guys tried to deke. Three guys made good moves. Three guys slid the puck along the ice into the pads. What happened to roofing it upstairs over the butterfly's pads? Dags used to wrist it upstairs.

I know he is quoted as saying he is not interested in playing anywhere but Anaheim (if he wants to play) but he is what this team needs - a legitimate sniper. The last 2 seasons he has scored 88 goals & missed only 2 games. IMO this indicates he still has it , big time.
BG should be badgering his agent with an offer starting around the 6 million mark. This is the easiest way, right now, for the Habs to get a real impact player.
