Certainly one of the last Oilers to be with Hamilton if the Oilers have lost faith in him?........ knowing the familiarity of this player within the Habs org. could a deal be swung between the Habs and Oilers. Seems to be a interesting proposition to explore? Ryder for Stoll is that doable?.......would you do that?...would the Oil? HFTO

Short answer....no. The Oilers would not. Stoll is signed for a few years, and is a real leader. He's defensively responsible and offensively capable. A better catch than our friend Mike.

To be honest, I don't have a lot of interest in Stoll. Two years ago, I did. Since the trip to the finals he's not been the same player IMO.

The way I see it, the best time to get a player is when they are slumping!!
So many times have the Habs given up or gotten rid of someone who is slumping only to have that player turn it around somewhere else. Wouldn't it be nice for the Habs to finally have the opposite happen.......
If Stoll was playing well, he would be one of the untouchables in Edmonton. He has great leadership, plays gritty and works every shift. All the pre-season magazines projected him to be a solid 2nd line center, a player that can shut down the opposition and win faceoffs. Since the Habs are 25th in the league in faceoffs, any help would be welcome.......
If Stoll is available, then the Habs would be wise to inquire because the past 30 games won't reflect the rest of his career! He could just as easily start producing the way he has the past few seasons.

The way I see it, the best time to get a player is when they are slumping!! That way they'll fit right in.. oh wait.. that's not what you mean? So many times have the Habs given up or gotten rid of someone who is slumping only to have that player turn it around somewhere else. He could just as easily start producing the way he has the past few seasons. I'm not terribly interested in Stoll because he further logjams the team at center, and aside from his big shot, faceoffs and decent defensive play (about which much more hoopla is made than deserved) he doesn't bring a lot to the table IMO. He's a worker, but he's no better than a 3rd line center on a good team, and a 2nd line center on a mediocre team. If we can get him for Ryder (which is unlikely) I guess I'd be okay with it, but by acquiring him you're sacrificing Lapierre to the minors or wing (where he's less effective) and reducing Chipchura's minutes considerably for the few seasons until Stoll is UFA. I'm no expert or anything, but I don't consider that great asset management.

How about Raffi Torres?
We could use a gritty, hard-hitting, natural LWer like him.

I want Hemsky. We already have a mini version of Stoll (chips), but we don't have anyone like Hemsky.

...and Red Fisher reports in today's paper that Kevin Lowe was at last night's game. Bad game to be at (scouting us). Who would he ever want on our team other than Kovalev or Komi. We are not trading them.

I think it's a safe bet that Ryder is being shopped. Too bad.
