www.cyberpresse.ca/article/20080204/CPSPORTS0101/80204001/-1/CPSPORTS0101Apparently, there was talk on Sunday that a deal was being set up, but not to send Ryder anywhere - rather to send Dandenault to Atlanta, where they badly need help on D. I have no idea what we should be getting in return....... Personally, I'd hope that Dandenault could be a major part of a deal for Hossa....... not bloody likely, but we can dream !

I think Mathieu is in the last year of his deal. Regardless, I doubt he garners much more than a 4th-6th rounder.

Looking at the Atlanta lineup they're not too strong down the middle. But, I wonder if Gainey might be targeting Todd White? Veteran centre ... don't know what his record is on faceoffs though. Cheers.

If its just Dandeneault, my guess is that the Habs would be looking at maybe a guy like Jim Slater, or Chris Thorburn.
Unlike Dandeneault, these are guys that would likely be somewhat ok with being in and out of the lineup, and they would provide more grit to the 4th line. I haven't checked the salaries, but im guessing there would also be a savings of close to 1 million for next year if we made such a swap.
If he's part of a package for Hossa, then maybe its something like:
Higgins + Dandeneault + Emelin + 2nd for Hossa + Boulton
Either way, one thing is for certain...he's not a major part of a deal for Hossa!

Give his next years earnings to Streit, promote his replacement from within and call it a day.
