I was certain that Hossa wore Mission, but it appears that he started wearing Warrior gloves starting Dec 1 2007.

...Brunet is in such a hurry to get his "sccops" out that he checks nothing and just assumes facts... As an aside, if Gainey's offer for Hossa is Ryder and Streit than you can forget about Hossa coming to Montreal because there will certainly be at least half a dozen GMs more than ready to blow this low ball offer out of the water to land a player of Hossa's quality. Agree. No way this deal gets done without Higgins and a prospect/pick as well.

Typical of La Presse lately. However, if Brunet was wrong about something like the gloves than he is probably dead wrong about the type of offer Gainey made. If I were as shoddy about the quality of my work as Brunet and company are, I would be standing in the E.I. line.

A good friend of mine, just MSNed me a message from his friend Hugo (who is supposedly the brother of a ref in NHL) told him, that Hossa in Montreal was a done deal. Some details of the deal are apprently not finished yet, but here it is:
Hossa (signed by the Habs)
For Ryder, O'byrne and a 2008 2nd round draft pick
Official Annoncement to be made Friday, and Hossa should be playing for us against Columbus...
I know it's totally ridiculous, but take it as food for discussion...

That would be the steal of the century.... and I don't buy it for a second. Deals are never telegraphed like this in the media/internet before they actually happen, but I'd love it if this were true.

Sounds like the guy who called into TEAM 990 (yes, I listen to TEAM990 over the Internet.. listening to PJ Stock makes me feel slightly less crazy) about his good buddy who saw Hossa in the airport, and said that the deal was Hossa and Recchi for McDonagh, Emelin, 2nd, 3rd.. all to be announced during Gainey's speech Saturday. And they keep repeating the call-in every hour.

It's quite the opposite actually; I would never expect a regular poster on HabsRus to make up a rumor (which is probably why there isn't a lot of rumors/scoop that originate from here). But, i thought it was funny, specially on a day like today, that the exact same rumor was already posted on another board. It's just unbelievable how fast stuff travels on the net. hey, who knows, maybe it's 2 different sources with the same information (that's an E4 I think......) I still have the feeling Hossa is coming to Montreal

I got to believe Atlanta can get more than Ryder for Hossa ..... Oh btw ... two seperate sources not tied to the teams is an (e2) ... lol...

You have to wonder how many people there are out there who simply throw material into cyberspace to see how far it will go.
I have no doubt Ropoflu got an MSN message. But, there's so much garbage out there, including JP Stock's admission to making up the Hossa-to-Beantown rumour, that this time of year becomes a joke.
Ah well ... the Americans have their trade deadline madness that ends in about 20 minutes. The NBA.
Cheers.

LOL poor Joe.
With respect to Hossa, I'm prepared to pay quite a lot to get him. Even if Ryder and Streit, plus whatever, is accurate it's a starting point. It's not like at this point that would be Gainey's final offer.
Do people feel the names being thrown around are going to be better than Hossa is right now? I think Higgins and Ryder are very good players. I think Higgins has the potential to be a consistent 30-40g man. Do I think either can be as dynamic as Hossa? No chance.
At 29, Hossa is in the prime of his career. Signing him to a long term deal would mean that we'd be able to more than handle mortgaging someone of Higgins' or Ryder's age.
Obviously the sticking point is the contract. None of us want an expensive rental. If Gainey is indeed talking to Rich Winter that's a good sign. Means Gainey won't make a deal without something in place.

Hockey is a team game. Teamates work together. No "I" in team, "Band of Brothers", all those old slogans. Komisarek and Higgins are teamates. Kostitsyn bros are brothers. It's easier to keep tha Sedins together in Vancouver than ship one out. It's easier to resign Higgins to a team that hugs eachother like les gars did after the 5 goal comeback (In a manly way Skilly). Kovalev, Markov and the Russian kid Mafia work together. Would Grabovsky rather go to Minnesota for a couple of more bucks than stay with guys he likes? I think Briere saw the joy on the Hab's faces. How different is a $18 million dollar bank account from a $17 million dollar one. How much more happiness does it buy. Ask Brittney Spears how happy her $100 million, youth and adoring fans makes her.
