One face or another will move: Jokinen, or Martin. We'll know in just over a day which one. Could be both. If Martin trades Jokinen, it could easily be the last straw. Supposedly Martin is meeting with the owners to discuss Jokinen.

Skilly, I think Gainey will step up to a point. He apparently doesn't want to tamper too much with the youth on the current roster, but may have to to get a deal done. IMO Florida as a trading partner makes sense. They're still a building team that, aside from Jokinen and Bouwmeester, doesn't have much. It may cost Martin his job, but stocking up on talented youth would be good for the long term. It's a hard sell to the fans of course (although most of their fans resemble green seats). My only qualm with going after Jokinen is what do we do with Koivu? Getting someone like Hossa doesn't tamper with our centers. Adding Olli means we have to shuffle the deck a bit. Does Olli move to the wing? Will he like that? Does Saku move to a third line role? Will he accept that? Adding a Hossa would be the most seamless move imo. I guess the thinkg we are all missing here is that Florida, by dealing a center, may require a center in return ... it is highly possible that a deal for Jokinen could involve Saku Koivu - if Saku waives his NTC, which I would highly doubt - or Tomas Plekanec. Florida would need name recognition in return, or the very least a player that gives the fans some idea where the team is headed. But if Gainey is able to land him and only give up Higgins (or Ryder) from the current roster, I don't think we'll have to worry about which line Saku plays on, because we will have 3 - #1/#2 lines. A-Kosty - Pleky - Kovalev Latendresse - Jokinen-S.Kosty Smolinski - Koivu - Ryder (Higgins)

I'm merely regurgitating what I've heard. The Panthers have been a team without vision for a long time. Keenan screwed them long term by trading Luongo for next to nothing. It's going to take time to get things going there, and Martin has done it before. Moving Jokinen hurts short term, but perhaps they need to stock pile. These next two drafts are going to be really deep. If they can move some people and get a lot of high picks they'll be stocked. Their cupboards aren't exactly overflowing.

If Jokinen is part of a deal, then the Panthers will need to see an immediate on-ice return in addition to some potential down the road. I can't say for sure, but if a deal went down involving Jokinen, the youth going the other way would probably be inserted directly into the Florida lineup. Were you listening to McGuire this morning? He said the same thing: the Panthers need players as well as prospects. Nope. The only stations I get on my little desk radio are local FM stations. No AM at all. And they don't allow streaming on the PC because of bandwidth and security issues. But I wish I had heard him. He's actually tolerable these days. I honestly never heard of the rift here, Franko. Kind of interesting though. Cheers.

Not much today.
Talking about Fletcher's situation, that with all the NTCs not being waived Fletcher might end up looking to deal Steen, Stajan, Wellwood, Antropov-type players. Doug MacLean says he'd be surprised if Richards was dealt before the deadline. I agree. Hossa may be looking to close up shop today, instead of waiting until tomorrow.
I swear MacLean is using these spots to promote himself. So many times he starts talking about this or that about his drafting and how he hates Zherdev.

Ottawa to Toronto: what stations talk sports/will talk trade deadline? Where should I dial in once I lose AM1200?

Toronto is FAN590, and I'm sure there's a FAN affiliate somewhere between.
I'd check out the FAN and TEAM networks, see if they have coverage.

Welp.. Kypreos is now claiming that Tucker will be bought out. I wonder if he would come back to Montreal. Despite him being an a-hole, he can play an effective hockey game and could probably teach Latendresse a thing or two. Since he'll be earning 2/3 of his existing contract, it might not take that much to sign him.. and besides, playing in Montreal (with Sundin? ) could be a way to stick it to Toronto.

I wonder if he would come back to Montreal. I have the feeling his only words would be :" Where do I sign" But the real question is: "Does Montreal want Tucker back ? and the answers to that IMO is, I doubt it ! but you never know..... Imagine, we win a cup with Sundin and Tucker...... ;D

I know Tucker was injured for part of last year but I just didn't see him bringing a lot to the table for the Leafs. He's 32 & I think his style of play is, I think, beginning to take its toll.
I would love his abrasiveness for the Habs. Maybe he just needs a fresh start & an incentive laden deal.

Tucker was ticked that he wasn't getting primo minutes on the PP last season....moved aside to make room for Jason Blake. One could assume from that, that he wouldn't like being a 4th liner. His physical play has also declined....but could it be resurrected on a better team? Anyways...you'd have to keep him at least an elbow-length from Kovalev's locker.
