Arvie mulling offers from 10 NHL teams
By BRUCE GARRIOCH -- Ottawa Sun
Magnus Arvedson is playing the waiting game.
With the start of NHL training camps just three weeks away, the unrestricted free-agent winger is telling Swedish newspapers he's received calls from 10 teams and has turned down four "concrete" contract offers.
The veteran winger, who was cut loose by the Senators at the end of last season, indicated he didn't like any of the teams that tendered the offers and that's why he hasn't signed with anybody with the season approaching.
"More than 10 clubs have contacted me and are interested. Four of them have actually presented a deal," Arvedson told a newspaper in his home town of Karlstad, Sweden.
"I don't wanna play for any of those teams. They're not good enough and I don't think my family would like it in any of those cities. I want to go to a good team in a nice city, that's all I can say right now."
It's not known what cities Arvedson is talking about, but he has received interest from the New York Rangers, Atlanta Thrashers, Vancouver Canucks, San Jose Sharks, St. Louis Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Sources say Arvedson, who has been working out with his former Swedish club team Farjestad, has an offer on the table for a one-year deal from the Leafs, but is demanding a three-year, $7.5-million (all terms US) contract.
Arvedson, who made $1.6 million last year, claims the offers he's turned down have been lucrative.
"The best I've been offered during my NHL career," he said.
