Tom Barrasso, for a 4th round pick.
Man, the goaltending market just sucks. Barrasso for a 4th, Vernon, Kidd and Osgood on waivers, Weekes for a struggling kid and a 2nd rate goon.

Holy crap...man are the Canes idiots.
IF you are going to GIVE AWAY Barrasso, give him away to a team in the West, not a team that can beat you in the playoffs.
As for the Leafs, funny how they make this trade when Schwab has been oustanding recently.

Schwab's been playing solid, but the team is in complete trap mode. 17 goals for in the last 8 games tells you all you need to know.
I still have Leaf fans for friends that bitch about the Devils winning a couple of cups from the trap because it is so boring to watch. I agree with that completely, but now all I hear is how awesome this team is, and they don't need CuJO.
Man I hate the Leafs.

Barrasso is a good pickup for the Leafs. He is a veteran goaltender who has a history of playing well in the playoffs. I predict this will payoff big time for the Leafs.
I agree - Why would Carolina help a potential playoff opponet?

Ask any Sen fan how good Barrasso is? Trust me, Carolina isn't worried about running into Tom in the postseason. They probably are hoping they face him. It's pretty hard to find former team-mates of his that don't hate him.

I don't agree.Barrasso has a bad reputation because of his relation with the media, but according to his former teammates, former coaches(Pierre McGuire) the guy does everything to win and the teammates who hate him are the ones who don't want to do everything to win.Guys like Rucinsky ;D. |

He is a proven money goalie |

Barasso is a good goalie, don't kid yourselves into thinking otherwise. In fact, I'd say that all things being equal (both being healthy and on their games) that Barasso is just as good as Hackett. Tommy tends to be a bit more moody and streaky, but Hack tends to get injured more often - so it's a trade off.
There's been a lot of talk about him being a cancer in the dressing room, but when you talk to guys like Mario Lemieux et al whom have played with him, most can't find anything bad to say. He is testy with the media, but some people are like that. That doesn't mean he a bad person as much as it means he doesn't like the media (which, IMHO, may kill him in T.O.)
Trust me on this one. Barasso for a fourth is a steal. Carolina will live to regret that trade.

My fear is he will be the same kind of help for the Leafs as he was for the Sens. As for Carolina trading to a playoff opponent, they probably realize they won't last in the Playoffs so it won't hurt them. If Barrasso helps Toronto the way he helped Ottawa, then the Canes definitely don't need to worry. |
