Should be an interesting game. The Bruins don't have Big Joe,but they can still score goals in bunches. One thing I have noticed about them recently, their defence has been caughing up the puck ALOT.Against Philly,it costed them dearly. We need to forecheck hard and put some pressure on their mediocre D.But if we sit back and try to defend(and my bet is we will do just that),we are going to be in trouble.
Game is on RDS.Always the better broadcast.

I can't help it. I know it's a drag, but I just can't see us beating the Bears tonight, even without Thornton to deal with and even though they've struggled for the last week (losses to Calgary and Philly). The Habs have looked as bad or worse (worse, probably) in scratching out 2 points against the Thrash, sucking mightily against Ottawa and blowing the lead against the 'Canes. The Habs are not playing well, so unless something changes tonight (like they get 60 minutes of major hustle and grit) I see them going down no matter how mediocre Boston is. If Boston plays a spirited game it won't be close. If the Habs grab these 2 points I'll start to think that maybe they appreciate where they are, how fortunate they are to be there, and how much they'll regret it if they fade down the stretch and finish 9th. Hackett is the other key. He's led the team before and they need him to do it again. This team can't afford soft goals (like Tamer's against Theo the other night, which Theo overplayed badly).

You thought that was a bad goal? I can't specifically remember Theo's movements but there is no way Tamer should have been behind both D like that. Until the puck crosses the blueline somebody has to stick around the net

Soft like cream cheese. Tamer was not unmolested. He had a guy on him. It's true he shouldn't have gotten that close, but he had no play except to kind of shuffle the puck at the net on his backhand. There's no way a guy should score from there (on his backhand) unless he roofs it short side. Tamer's no sniper and the D was not as bad on that play as the goaltending. Soft. Soft like cottonelle 9-ply toilet tissue. Soft.

hehe excellent description....are you an English Prof?
Looking back and pushing the cobwebs aside I do remember him shooting back to the far post. A sin for goalies. I'm a jaded old goaltender who blamed my defenseman for ever letting them get that close to me! ;D

We are the masters of our own destiny as we have two games in hand on NYR. A start like Monday with tenacious forechecking, shooting often and go, go, go to the net may not have us up 3-0 but is the only way to get on the scoresheet first. The Bruins are a solid team; but they are not the same with Joe Thornton out of the lineup. They can be beaten tonight. We can win this with 60-65 minutes of focussed, minimal screw up hockey. Of course it's up to the players, however, which players it is up to depends on what Therrien puts in his coffee today (or maybe he pulls his Ouiji board). However he comes up with tonight's lineup I hope re realizes the importance of this game to get us within 1 point of the Devils the media has been saying is pulling away from us. Get some cheerleader outfits for the softies who won't check anyone, get the more skilled bangers, passers and scorers out there and have the girls (not a slag; only that there is no intentional checking in the women's game) cheer from the pressbox. There is only one game out of the next 20 that is critically important - the next game. It'll be that way until April 13th. GO HABS GO!!

Hackett will have to come up huge.It would dearly help his value if he could have another game like he had against the Hawks. I also think a win tonight is a long shot. The odds are 5-1 IMO.IF Boston shows up and gets solid goaltending from Dafoe,it could get ugly.In almost every game this year they have manhandled us.The 2 games at the Keg,they blew 2 goal leads and we were lucky to get 3 out of 4 points.

Ribs will do nothing against the B's...their big players will push him around like he was a barbie doll.

Another 2 goal lead blown The first 5 minutes,we were all over the place,we were playing the kind of game we have to play tonight:put pressure on the mediocre Bruins D,forecheck hard, etc. After Zed hit that post,we sat back, like we sat back against the Thrashers. It's sickening to watch, the Bruins clearly dominated the rest of the period.Man,are they dangerous, even withouth their best player.Imagine if they can get an offensive minded d-man.They would easily be the best team in the East IMO.Or at least even with Philly. As for Hackett, made a great save on McInnis.First goal he was screened by Lapointe(who did a great job in front) and 2nd goal it was tipped it by Rivers.

Looking at it from a statistical standpoint (since the game is only in my imagination, boo hoo), I'd say Jeff is saving our bacon again. Simple observations...being outshot 2-1 again after 2 periods. Power play is working, thank God. Quintal on for both goals against (1 being a PP goal). I still see problems with effort and smarts, the first definitely related to coaching and the second to the quality of brain we accumulated and to discipline (partly coaching). MT's eyesight is going as he probably meant to scratch Markov and Bulis but made a mistake and scratched Traverse and Ribeiro instead (I'm reaching here...dying on the vine...time to go).

Uh-oh. The dreaded 2 goal, 3rd period lead. Hackett's playing great, as is Joé Juneau. Again. Very nice job by Stephane Quintal taking on Bruins tough guy Denis Bonvie (500+ PIM for Hamilton one year!!) after the Bruins looked like they were going to pull an Olivia Newton John on us (lets get physical, physical) and pounding the stuffing out of him. Well, okay, maybe "pounding the stuffing out of him" is a little bit of an exagerration, but Quintal clearly one the fight, and if Ftorek was hoping for a momentum change with a beating up of a home-town boy, it didn't happen. Kudos to Quintal. 20 more minutes. Unfortunately, too often these have been our worst 20 minutes. Here's hoping.

Well,we were able to hang on.But man,was that close. On CKAC,Pierre Rinfret said the Bruins had 30 scoring chances all night The key to the game were the 2 early goals. The Bruins probably didn't expect us to come out like that and what a bad play by Dafoe on the 1st goal! 5 points out of 10 against the Bruins.Pretty damn good. One question though, what the hell was Rivet doing telling Quintal to not fight Bonvie? if there is anything Quintal is good at,it's fighting.Because he is obviously nothing more than a #5 or # 6 d-man these days. As for Odjick, man I think that was his first fight of the year!
