Great article on how to develop young players(maybe we should send this to the Habs). www.hockeysfuture.com/article.php?sid=4022&mode=threaded&order=0I hope we won't be seeing an article like this on Andrei Markov in the near future...but with the way the Habs are handling him,it wouldn't surprise me one bit. There is still alot of incompetence within our organization.

Of course, the article doesn't mention that most teams don't have a Joe Sakic to put newbies around, that most teams can't risk anything that might make them lose a single game since they are fighting for a playoff spot, or that a lot of kids simply aren't that good.
If Colorado does anything special, it's before the guys were even called up in the first place, IMO.

Why didn't we pick him up last fall? I remember when Calgary had him on waivers.
Same as Housley? He was given away in the waiver draft but yet is one of the best offensive d-men in the game.
Looks like Andre was sleeping in those mornings!

Good for Rico....but you know what I didn't have that much faith in him and still don't.
I speak from watching the guy 25-35 nights a year over the past few years. Fast as a roadrunner dumb as a stump.
I did'nt think he was worth picking up and being forced to keep on your NHL roster. Calgary was asleep because they could have brought him back and sent him to an offensively starved Saint John when NY tried to send him to Hartford.

Looks like Andre was sleeping in those mornings! Because Fata, while he has the speed AS loves, doesn't have the hands AS covets. As for Housley, his resurgence has more to do with being re-united with Sutter more than anything IMO.He has a huge salary that is tough to swallow.

Looks like Andre was sleeping in those mornings! The Habs have a pretty full roster, and a pretty decent payroll already.... Who would we have gotten rid of to make room for these guys ? Would the salaries have been dealt with somehow ? Remember Fata must be making about the cap, 1 - 1.2 million. And Housley isn't cheap.... and while Gillett might be willing to add to the payroll for a Selanne or a Hull, adding it for an ageing Housley ain't so easy. I'm not a fan of all of Savard's move, but these guys weren't huge missed opportunities, IMO.

Rico Fata.....think Russ Courtnall with ALOT less talent. Saw him play a few games with the big team here in Calgary. Pass on this guy.

Who is nothing but junk. Phil has been a good pickup for Chitown. A big part of their turn around. Remember the Hawks were worse than us last year and have improved greatly. Andre blew this one

Andre blew this one OK,yes,if you compare Quintal to Housley.I agree. But we picked up Quintal before Housley was picked up by the Hawks. But,when we picked up Quintal,I doubt Housley was available for nothing. The Flames decided to not protect him probably figuring Morris would be able to QB their PP,if they lost Housley and hoping someone would take his salary off their hands. But you can't blame AS for failing to pick him up last October when we already picked up Q.
