I don't know if it's me being used to seeing elite hockey, but the Habs looked TERRIBLE in that 1st period. No jump, no forecheck, pathetic cycling...and our defence looking terrible.Bouillon looked brutal against Neil on the Ottawa goal.Bouillon has cost us alot of goals since his call-up(remember the Alfredsson one about a month ago?,remember when Guerin snucked behind him with 4 seconds to play in the 2nd against Boston?,etc...) As for Traverse, obviously not one body check and being outmuscled for the puck. And Juneau on the PP point...again

What a weird 2nd period.First part,we looked even worse than we did in the 1st period. We were standing around in our end,Ottawa was doing what they wanted, etc. The Sens scored a great goal to make it 2-0 and the 3rd goal was ridiculous.I swear, seconds before the goal, our PKers, were forming a LINE in front of our goal, not a BOX,a LINE!!!!!!!,what happened? Ottawa got the puck to the net,Brisebois and Dykhuis both had their backs to the play and Bonk put the puck into the net to make it 3-0.By the way, that PP happened becuse Gino took a stupid penalty.
The 2nd part was better for 'les boys'.Petrov scored a goal after a mad scramble in front of the goal,we had more jump, but still not enough to beat the Sens on this night.
We have been doing this ALOT,in fact WAAAAAYYY too much recently:fall behind by 2-3 goals and try to come back to tie the game in the 3rd period. We did it against Boston and Detroit(2 teams that protect leads incredibly well). It's just a bad habit.
3-1 Ottawa after 2.

Just want to mention that Theodore is saving our butt once more.
Our defence is really atrocious,it's ridiculous.

After seeing the last few minutes I have one question:
Where the hell has the team where are seeing now, been all night?
Why do we ALWAYS wait until we are down by 1 or or 2 or 3 to start playing like this?
It's sickening.

Well, it's easy to chalk it up to "cob-webs", but I'm more inclined to say that once again, Therrien fails to get them "pumped' and "ready"....we've seen this all season long. When was the last time you saw them start a game like gang-busters this season? Answer: not once. CO

God damn stupid Therrien
What a freakin' bonehead...
3rd period, we're down by a goal, need offense and the best the coach can come up with is promote Odjick to the 2nd line... Gino takes a stupid penalty..boom 4-2.
We need a coach with a clue.

Well, that goal does it.To quote Mike Lange...Elvis has left the building.
I am kinda of happy we will lose, why??? because, hopefully these players and our coaches will understand you can't play like sh*t for 2 periods, come out like a house on fire in the 3rd and win.

Frankly I have no problem with Gino on a 4th line type thing but on an offensive line? When you're down by a goal? There is no way you can explain such a coaching decision. It's goon coaching... minor league material. Double shift Bulis if you're unhappy with Ribeiro but Gino Odjick??? About as brilliant as Juneau on the point or Traverse instead of Markov.

I agree with CO about the weak starts.
As for the rest, the Juneau line had a bad night as well as the defence. Add the penalty killing to that list. The team just all around wasn't prepared to play except for Gilmour's line.
MPLABBE is right; it is a bad loss. But now, with the Habs sitting out of a playoff spot and the Devils coming alive, all the losses will be bad. The grim law of statistics is coming into play-not enough games left for a margin of error. Every time you lose one, you jack up the required winning % for the rest of the season. The only good thing about tonight is that the Rangers and the Sabres lost too.
On to the Hawks tomorrow. They should be in a nasty frame of mind having lost tonight to the Flyers. At least they're travelling tonight like the Habs are. But we won't be able to use the excuse of back to back games and travelling if we lose.

As far as our playoff hopes going up in smoke...that happened the day MT got his contract extension. Bouillon plays and Markov sits. The team's listless, lethargic, plays great after there's little chance of actually winning the game. It's really annoying (I'm being polite, the correct word is stronger than annoying) to know we're wasting another year. The true question is whether Andre is accepting Thrrien's theatrics as a condition of improving more, later on, or if he truly believes MT is the coach for this team. If he believes the latter, no matter how good a judge of talent he is, I'd give him the pink slip. You can't be that wise and that naive at the same time.

Therrien is a total idot! #1 Odjick is responsible for the 3rd goal on a STUPID penality in the offensive zone! So what does Therrien do ... bench him.. no ... he puts him out on the 2nd line where Gino gets ANOTHER stupid penalty when we had crawled back into the game and had all the momentum. #2 Our 4th line SUCKS!!!! Van Allen can't skate worth S$HIT, Odjick is a huge liabilty! If Therrien can't figure out that Hossa--Kilger--Asham is a better 4th line then Kilger--Van Allen---Odjick, he should get out of hockey! #3 Mini-camp... our defense was AWEFUL and supposedly they worked on the defensive sytem during the 3 day mini-camp! WHAT THE HELL DID THEY WORK ON!!!!!! #4 Quntial was AWEFUL and so was Traverse! Are you telling me that MArkov and Hainsey are worse than these two clowns! The played an aweful first two periods and got no offense from their D... Savard and Therrien have got to let these guys come up!!!! #5 Ribero has not played well lately and he needs to play with bigger guys, maybe on the 4th line with Hossa and Kilger and bring Asham or Ward to the second line! Even Darby is better than Van Allen!! A few more games like tonight and our playoff hopes will go up in smoke! Agree with everything.Markov and Hainsey are waaaaaaaaaay better than Traverse,Quintal,Robidas,Bouillon and a Brisebois at 50%(which is how he looked last night!).Why did we pick up Quintal?? why?? we were alright in right-handed d-man.On top of that, the guy shafted us 2-3 years ago!!! and what is there to say about Traverse? Man,I hate him.He looks like the kinda of guy who has ZERO confidence in himself and he plays like garbage on the ice.I still can't believe Jacques Martin was able to endure this softie for about 2-3-4 years. As for Ribeiro,he needs to get away from the Perreault-Berezin ugly duo ASAP.He needs to play with a power forward and a speedy guy(Zednik?) who will go hard to the net.I would put the Zednik-Ribeiro-Asham line back together. So my lineup for tonight: Kilger-Gilmour-Petrov Zednik-Ribeiro-Asham Bulis-Juneau-Dackell Van Allen-Perreault-Berezin Ok,that 4th line is pretty weird, but Perreault and Berezin need a wake up call after last night's game. But,you could put Van Allen between Juneau and Dackell and move Bulis with Perreault and Berezin.
