Picked this up from Da_legend at HABFANS:
A rumour about a trade which would center around Koivu and Gaborik...
I don't think Koivu alone could land us Gaborik but maybe Koivu + ?
Thoughts ?

It sounds like a bit of a longshot. I would think it would take a lot more than Koivu to land Gaborik.
I have no doubt that Koivu has some good years left in him. Gaborik, however, probably has great years ahead of him - and more of them. Koivu also brings a long history of injuries with him. I can see the temptation in uniting the Koivu brothers, and adding Saku's leadership, but Montreal would have to really sweeten the offer to get the deal done:
Koivu + top prospect + 1st might do it

Koivu + top prospect + 1st might do it I'm not a big Koivu fan but I think you're a tad too generous. Gaborik is great but in a Zednik kind of way IMO, not a Kovalchuck kind of way. Koivu/Zhogin for Gaborik ?

I'd probably do that deal, but I still doubt the Wild would bite. Gaborik is one of the more valuable commodities in the NHL right now IMO. Koivu is closing in on 30 having played only 2 complete seasons while Zhogin has yet to play in the NHL.

Gaborik is also cheaper. Whatever he is asking, it is less than 4,5 millions per year and he's far far away for becoming an UFA.

I understand Gaborik is close to signing with the Wild.

I don't want Saku to be moved, but Gaborik is a high-value asset that is worth it. If I were BG, I'd be very, very careful in throwing Koivu's name around though, the media is already in a frenzy over nothing, imagine if they really had something to bite.
