The Fourth Period reports that, according to the Florida Sentinel, Viktor Koslov is on the block...
It is said that the Habs and Oilers are looking for help up front (d'oh! Really?) and could be interested by the big russian. A very "soft' rumor so to speak...

Ryan Smyth please, just get him. I think if Calgary was not going to make the play offs they could probably get him but oh well, Kozlov it is

I find the 4th Period quite unreliable but I also saw Kozlov's name come up in Spectors in relation to an Edmonton deal for Brewer. He's older than I thought (29) and makes 2.3 million this season. Best season was 70 points 4 years ago. I haven't see him play a lot but I've never been really impressed. Great size though. Stats: www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=2808

I'll take a pass on Kozlov. Look at his games played totals over the last ten years - he's also missed 11 games so far this year.
74, 50, 51, 80, 65, 46, 18, 78, 62
Sure he's got great size, but I've never heard his name mentioned in the same breath as "power forward". I don't think we're in the market for an injury prone gentle giant.

All this is a reporter's wishful thinking. Kozlov is a RH centre, and most in the media are aware of BG's comments about acquiring a RH centre. Kozlov is the prototypical Euro enigma. Hence the idea of him being available and Montreal being one of the teams.
Viktor has all the tools, but no toolbox. He could have been one of the most dominate players in the league the last ten years, but instead settled for so so performances and a regular paycheque. That isn't what BG is looking for.
Smyth is to some extent. We're somewhat thin on the LW, and lack some grit and heart. Ryan could address that for sure. However, the rumours appear to have died down since the GM talks. Perhaps it will heat up again, but I don't think it's going to happen.

I do not think it would be a good idea to trade for him, but at least it would stop him from scoring goals against us.

I would not call this a rumour...it's wild speculation! Just because the Habs are looking for a big centreman, doesn't mean that BG will jump at any available one out there.
I wouldn't waste too much time on this "rumour"!
