From what my friend tell me, most players are scared of Murray...I guess the guy is a beast. He tries to fight but know one is willing, apparently he is crazy strong. Murray brings something no other Hab does. The hit deserved a penalty, but it was shoulder to body with an Arm to the head on the follow through. We have a deep defensive corps of players knee high to Murray. Tinordi brings size and clears the slot, Tinordi has reach, Markov is smart, Subban has a shot from the point and eats minutes, Emelin has big hits every other game, Booboo is safe filler, Gorges is mediocre. Bring up Beaulieu and we are ready for the playoffs. The team is missing a dimension when Murray is absent.

I had to look this up, but here are the rules tendering an offer sheet: An offer sheet is a contract negotiated between an NHL team and a restricted free agent on another team.
The offer sheet includes all the terms of a standard player contract, including length, salary, bonuses, etc.
A player who has signed a qualifying offer or is going to salary arbitration with his original team cannot sign an offer sheet. I think all Bergevin has to do is make an qualifying offer and he eliminates any offer sheets. Cheers. So I guess this means if MB makes a QO and PK does not sign it or PK does not agree to go to salary arbitration, then the door is still wide open for an offer sheet? Offer sheets can be made the day after the draft. If management lets it get this far, they deserve to be pickled in their own juice. The team is on its way up. PK knows that. MT won't be around forever (just until Ducharme is deemed ready , so I don't think it will get that far. If it does, then maybe we should join CoyotesRus or WingsRus so we don't have to complain about the coaching.

Friedman's last 30 Thoughts column said that Subban wanted to wait until the season is over. That's just great. He'll get some big offer sheet that the team will be forced to match. I had to look this up, but here are the rules tendering an offer sheet: An offer sheet is a contract negotiated between an NHL team and a restricted free agent on another team.

A player has to sign the QO for it to eliminate an offer sheet.

Just heard on TSN690....the Habs have the day off at a Florida golf resort. Nice to have a break....and they HAVE just gone 8-2-0.....but bad habits are creeping back...and that includes the coach. Hockey sticks, like golf clubs, strike an object on the surface using two hands. Hockey sticks, unlike golf clubs, are used defensively. I didn't see enough of that from the Habs. They also missed to many putts from short range. P.S. Golf bores me. It's like billiards played on grass. It doesn't require stamina and a well developed musculature. However, playing golf is exercise if one doesn't use a golf cart.

Number one reason most amateurs do not take up golf: 18 holes is too much - ie, it requires stamina, both mental and physical As for not requiring a well developed musculature ... have you seen Tiger Woods, Adam Scott, Dustin Johnson ... the successful ones nowadays are the ones spending time in the gym, they need the musculature to increase the clubhead speed to get distance.

However, playing golf is exercise if one doesn't use a golf cart. I might have a bit of a middle-aged spread, but walking 6/7 kms per round does me a lot of good. Golf may not require the same level of stamina or musculature as hockey does, but it's more of a recreational sport. By the way, I've run into a few NHLers on the golf courses over the years. They've always been in golf carts (to go with their top-of-the-line clubs). If the boss is giving me time off at a Florida golf resort (and if I were a lot younger with more money than I knew what to do with) ... I'm thinking this kind of break, just before the playoffs, is a great way of bonding the team that much more. Here are our guys getting tans, drinking beer and playing golf, while other teams are still busting their butts just trying to make the show. It's taken a few years for pattern to reverse for us. I honestly can't remember the year, but I do remember the organization giving a few games off to the veterans (Gainey/Robinson?) once they knew the playoffs were a lock. Might have been '85 or '86, really not sure though. Cheers.

It wasn't Tiger that started the work out craze in golf ... it was Gary Player. He promoted it for years and years until people finally listened

When you use a hockey stick you may find someone using his to prevent you from shooting. AS for stamina, staying on the ice for a single 10-minute shift (an exaggeration) would take more out of you than playing 18 holes of golf (the non-conditioned hockey player might suffer a heart attack). You don't walk at 20 mph.
