Sad news, but the Maniwaki Mauler isn't doing so well. Posted a letter on the Vancouver Canucks website in which he states that "they thought years, but now they think it could be a lot less. I could be down to months or even weeks." Very sad. canucks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=723992

Dave Stubbs dave_Stubbs · 3h Gino Odjick was made #Habs Andrei Markov's road roomie at start of AM's career to teach him English. Markov still laughs about that He wasn't my favourite Hab. Always took bad penalties. But was clearly a popular teammate and a decent guy.

as stated. sad news.
Gino did more than many, with what he had, than many in the NHL.
Gino started, and was involved, with many community and children's based fundraising and awareness initiatives involving everyday folk and, in particular, a number of first nations communities.
a a few months ago, at the Canucks game honouring & retiring Pavel Bure's jersey; the biggest, longest, loudest cheer / ovation was for one of the on ice guests ... Gino Odjick
Wishing Gino a 'reversal of (mis) fortune' ... regardless; he will do all he can with what he has left to give ... Gino style.

To lose a good guy who is doing so much to be an inspiration to kids in remote BC First Nations will be a huge loss indeed.
I still remember his skating by the opponents bench and walloping someone. Classic Gino.
Hope he gets some quality time with all of his kids.
