I don't know about smother, but we beat them by enough.

That's why Carey gets the big bucks.

Still need to be better out of the gate, but the Habs took advantage of their opportunities tonight.

First period woes continue, but they did turn the tide after that goal. I'd say it's as close to 'their game' as they've gotten. Still in-zone coverage issues - especially with Subban and Emelin.
Subban with a goal of the year candidate. Galchenyuk with a slick one too.
Price was stellar when he had to be.

Decent enough win. Gotta work on defensive zone coverage and a couple guys need to work on their intensity (Bourque). Good to see Price coming into his form

This was the Price - Subban - Galchenyuk show. With those three playing to their offensive and goaltending potential, we will win more than lose. But we will need a lot more on board than we had tonight, both offensively and defensively.

We need the whole team to be better, but one can't help being encouraged by the record so far despite not getting it all together.

It took them 6 games to accomplish it. They wound up a week in which they yielded 11 goals in 2 games to their most important divisional rivals.

Hadn't seen the highlights yet, so I thought I'd look up this great goal by Subban I've read about here.
Wow...it helped that Barrie blew a tire....but still. It looked as if Barrie decided at the last second to stop and not chase Subban around the net. That's what speed will do. On the end-zone replay you can see #9 Duchene coasting from the red line in. I bet he heard about that…unless he was gassed from being on the PP for a long time.

This game definitely a step in the right direction.....Price had his best game was focused and he had to be again.
The number of quality chances all point blank is concerning though.
Once again he could have easily been lit up had he not been extra sharp.
To the teams credit they played closer to 60 minutes they have the talent to score which is a nice thing and the reason why they are 5-1 a pretty surprising start given a real tough schedule to start the year.
They are getting consistently entertaining and we haven't been able to truly say that for a while and the ceiling is still higher for a bunch of players,....GO HABS!

I was a bit nervous, as the Avs are the type of team that could badly expose a team with shaky d and goaltending, which we've shown so far. Fortunately Price stepped up in a big way. A step in the right direction.
Gotta say that I really enjoyed Paul Romanuk & Mike Johnson calling the game. So much better than Rogers' "top" team of announcers.

I remember Romanuk took over from Hughson on TSN in the 90's and he called a pretty good game then, too.
